vanos rattle sound

hi ...i have m5 e39 and i have the rattle sound coming from right side of the engine and they told its the vanos and i need the change the whole unit and its gonna cost about 5000$ ....i need some advice here is there a cheaper way to fix it ??? thanx

as they say : The splined gears are modified to address the rattling, and can reduce the noise significantl

so im pretty sure it will decrease the "diesel sound "
im going to do the same mod soon

its actually normal for s62 engine have the diesel rattling at idle


its worth to try
