Make drivers seat go lower than oem.

I searched but didn't find anything. Anyone have tips for getting the drivers seat to go lower in height, more than oem allows? I know there is a mod to get it to go rearward further but I need it to go lower. I'm 6'1" and with the seat in it's lowest position, my helmet will still hit the headliner due to the sunroof. I have to recline the backrest more to keep from hitting the headliner but would like to keep the backrest more vertical for track and really don't want to go with a aftermarket seat. Any tips before I pull my seat and start to tinker? Thanks.

Next time around -- try to be born French Canadain. It helps. Tabernac, we're short. I have the seat all the way UP.

ANSWER:

Buy manual sport seat from wreck..off of ebay??

could work!

It'll balance the car out better too. Compared to you and an electric seat all on the driver's side. loose about 40-50lbs?

I mean, I could have the manual seats in my car, just fine. I set the seat once..and then no-one ever touches it again. Same for the passenger seat. Power is a waste of time, weight, and money.

extra info:

There are E39 seats that have the full function of the power seats..but are fully manual.

They can be found as pulls from 'touring' (wagon) wrecks. (530-525 models)

They come up on the german ebay at times. I'd wager that they go lower than the OE M5 power seats. They appear to be sport seats as well, with solidly built bolsters. Saw a pair on the German ebay a few days back.

Extra bonus part: they weigh alot less. Put a pair up front, gain a few horsepower.

recline the backrest more.

Lowers center, keeps head off headliner.
*Added bonus: protects head from lateral sniper fire.

Or just open the sunroof and enjoy the day at the track a the cost of a few seconds lap time.

You can pop the clips to let the seat go farther back

I'm 6'4" and pulled out the clips in the seat rails to let the front seats go further back. That's about all I know of, wish I could lower the seat a little more too.
