Interior trim for RHD E39 M5? - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

Only had my M5 for 7 weeks, and I've just about got used to 369 lb/ft torque and wet roads (when I'm knackered the DSC definitely stays on!)

I've learnt loads of useful information from trawling through the site, but my specific, unanswered, question is: does anyone have any (UK) contact details for interior trim suppliers.

I've currently got wood and it just seems wrong in this car...Want to get a metalic/carbon finish.

BMW UK will supply aluminium trim for circa £500, inc VAT, but not inc fitting. Apparently there's a special tool that makes fitting much easier; anyone know anything?

You could try ebay - there is often trim for sale on there.

I know of someone that removed all their wood trim and had it sprayed to look like the aluminium trim. It did look very good as an end result, and only took a few ££ and some elbow greese n time.

Trim seems quite easy to remove, so not sure about a special tool?!?!? (I havnt removed all of it though, just a few parts)

Yeah I agree, trim doesn't seem too difficult to remove, but I've only prodded and poked so far, not really tried "in anger". Hopefully the special tool comment was incorrect, because your idea of spraying sounds interesting.

Any advice regarding type of spray?

Any body shop should be able to paint them panels for a reasonable price.
You should first try and get a set of panels from any 5 series car in a scrap yard and paint them,that way if you are not happy with the out come you can always return to your originals.

I have the ACS Carbon Fiber trim in my M5 and I love it. More on the expensive side but I know it's available in RHD because one of the trim pieces they sent me initially did not fit because it was RHD.

Hi,
With regard to the 'special tool.' I've removed all of the trims mentioned and would advise use of a trim panel tool. A bit like a screwdriver but with a flared end so as not to dig in and damage the dash trim.
I am an ex-BMW technician and run my own BMW specialists in sunny Essex! I seem to remember on the TIS disc a 'wedge' shaped nylon block for use on these trims.

I just bought a '02 540i with silver trim inside (not metallic, it looks painted and a bit tacky). I'm looking for some wood trim so, if you find what you are looking for and don't need your current wood trim let me know as I am looking to buy some wood trim. Do you have the dark or light wood?
