m5 premium sound question?

Hello. First of all I just joined the M5 group last Friday with the purchase of a 2001 Gray/black. Love the car. I have a dumb question. On the 01s how do you tell if it has the M sound? There appers to be subs in the rear although I haven't taken the cover totaly off. It say NOKIA on the plastic cover. There is also an amp beneath the floor in the trunk. The reason I ask is there just doesn't seem to be a lot of bass. Is there someway to turn the subs on or off that I don't know about? Any insight would help. Thanks.

Re: m5 premium sound question?

The 2 huge subs in the trunk is an indication that you have the M-Audio option on your 01'. I also have an 01' M5 but without the M-Audio. Many members on this site have expressed displeasure with the M-Audio option. If you do a search you will find other threads that have supported this fact.

Re: m5 premium sound question?

welcome to the world of M audio/ Dsp! Believe it or not, that huge contraption under your rear deck is just a series of bandpass tubes. I'm in the process of putting my system in. The factory setup is a harpulling nightmare. Save yourself the aggrivation and buy an infinity bassLink. I think Bavarian Autosport has them complete with just a plug-in harness.

Can anyone help me with the reactivation code sequence on the DSP with Nav??? Email me at RMac217@msn.com if you know how to enter the code to get the head unit working again.Thanx
