FYI - because I was never clear about this before, the Meguiar's Gold Class Show Car Wax is polymer based. It is not a carnauba-based wax (just like Zaino.)

Greg,
Since you are offering, instead of just a quarter panel, how if you do my whole car? Then let everyone guess which was done with what?

Tim, as long as your paint is already in good shape, I can put a coat of Meguiar's wax on it in 15 minutes. Wait 1 hour for it to dry, then buff it out in another 15 minutes. It isn't that hard. If you do the work to schedule it and Get Arie there with his car, I'd do it.
If your paint needs much pre-cleaning (clay bar, cleaners) then it would be a bit more involved. 'Course, if you're buying the beers.....
Shoot - after posting this I realized you don't have the M5. Sorry, pal - you gotta do your own Viper. But the offer still hands for someone with a TiAg M5.

Greg,
Wonderful, I will bring my 1982 Jeep Wagoneer over. Paint seems fine, its a little white (cloudy) over the dark blue, but probably just needs to be washed...right? Oh and it has these spider like webs on the hood where something was on it for too long (bird poop?). Now all this is going to cost me is a six pack...wow! what a deal-your way too kind
BTW my car just went status 190 so hopefully see it in 30 days! Then I will come over and do the work. I have to admit that I prefer doing the rubbing on MY car not someone else hands all over my beast! But will buy that beer for you anyway!

Sorry I'm responding so late (vacations are hell, arn't they!), great write up Greg. I may have to break down and actually wax my car... I wash it about once a week and it is still beading up great after 9 months! Keeping it in the garage does make a big difference.

Tim - I can't wait to see your car. It will be the first of the new color I've seen in the flesh. Anyone 'round here got one of them new fangled sterling gray ones coming?
P.S. Leave the Jeep at home, thanks.....

Bill,
As much as I like Meguiars products, I do not like their Final Inspection or their Quik Detail. I prefer to use Eagle One WET Wipe & Shine. It has a nice shine and is very slick. Oh, it smells good, too. I'll bring a bottle over next time and you can give it a try.
Later,
Kenneth

I went over the entire car with detail spray to remove any water spots or streaks left behind. The Meguiars Final Inspection left a nice shine but not very slick. One Grand Show Off produced a very nice shine and a very slick finish; almost like a just waxed finish and in my opinion much better than the Meguiars product. Z6 from Zaino also left a very nice shine and very slick finish. I couldn't tell a difference between the Z6 and One Grand Show Off.

Minervagirl,
You have brought up some excellent points on polymer waxes vs. carnauba. Your fantastic 3-series picture has convinced me that the Klasse I've ordered should be a good investment.

Maverick, thanks!
You will love the Klasse. Remember, that 3 series picture is a Zaino picture. Klasse has a slightly different look. It's all a matter of preference. Klasse is not as wet or shiny looking.....just deeper and warmer. Looks fantastic on black or darker cars. If you apply three or more coats of KSG, you will start to notice your paint's shine become deeper and darker...even on silver (one of my cars is silver and it's Klasse'd).
Blitz is one of the best waxes out there, or you can even try the Pinnacle line (if you don't mind the price!) on top of your already beautiful Klasse coats.
By the way, if you frequent autopia a lot, then you will see that there is a new acrylic polymer product coming out called BlackFire. Supposedly, it provides Klasse-like protection while providing a carnauba-like shine. Furthermore, application and buffing are a breeze because you apply it to a panel and then wipe off right away...similar to the way you would use Klasse AIO. There's a lot of hype for it right now....just got to wait and see if it can deliver.
Greg:
Regarding your last post...

Greg, perhaps you should do this test and leave the car parked outside for about 3 months. During this time, let the car stay outside through rain, scorching sun..etc..etc. Wash the car every week with Meguiar's Gold Class wash. After the 3 months are up, then invite the locals to guess which panel isn't Zaino.
I'm willing to bet everyone will be able to tell a huge difference between the Zaino panels and Meguiar's panels.

Minervagirl - you've already made your point. Zaino may well last better than Meguiar's. I cannot dispute that because I have no hard evidence. I think most of us care MORE about shine, however. But you are just claiming it as fact. Just like people claimed some of the other benefits as fact. It isn't fact unless it is demonstrated to a reasonably scientific certainty.
Zaino claims superiority in 4 areas:
1) Shine/Gloss/Depth
2) Swirl Mark Hiding
3) Dust Repulsion/Release
4) Longevity.
So far I have proven that claims 1-3 don't hold water. Zaino is just as good, but no better, then Gold Class in these categories.
P.S. - Everyone has an opinion. I'm trying to get past that, to proven fact. So far nobody has said anything to discredit my methods, but I am absolutely open to it, and if you or anyone else wants to "prove" that I'm wrong in any of the above, I am all ears. All I care about is the truth. But please back up your claims with conclusive evidence.
I haven't decided whether I am going to do this for longevity or not, but I have thought about doing the left half of the car with Zaino and the right half with Meguiar's over several months. The shines are so close I don't think it would look weird. As soon as one emerged superior, if it did, after a wash, a dusting, a long outing in the sun, whatever, I would be the first to report it, truthfully and accurately.
Thanks!

Greg, did you continue to use Zaino to test for its longetivity? I have been using zaino for awhile and am contemplating buying a porter cable orbital and some machine wax (macguires?). I have not been disappointed with zaino but I would like to try to get rid of some swirl marks and scratches on my jet black beast.
