Engine Whinning

Hi All I live in Australia and was hoping some out there on the www could help with a problem I have with my 11/05 E60 M5. I managed to collect a barrier about 18 monthes ago and still have some problems with the car.

It has a whinning sound comming from the engine. So far the car has had the gearbox rebuilt from the ground up a number of sensors have been out of spec and replaced and the cluch replaced, when the whinning noise still hadn't gone they told me the vanos needed replacing and while the car is noticably better, now that's done, the whine is still there. It is most nocicable on overrun say down hill with in 2nd or third around the 3000RPM mark with the trottle off but it still does it at idle and if I drop the transmission into neutral it's still there.

Anybody come across anything like this? The car has 50000Kms and runs very well otherwise.
