Need Help with Navigation Speaking the Directions on US 2003 M5

Hi all:

New to this forum. I have a problem that I can't seem to resolve. I own a US market 2003 M5 with the Mark IV navigation that I bought a couple of years ago (used). The problem is with the navigation. The navigation system seems to be working fine with one exception: It doesn't speak out the directions. For instance, when I have the radio on, it does something like lower the radio volume and it seems like it is trying to say something whenever there is a new instruction to turn or something, but I hear nothing. Then when the instruction for navigation is over enroute, the music returns to normal volume. I searched all over the web looking for answers and I found something about buzzing and removal of pin 18 to hear the voice again, but that didn't work. upgrading nav OS to v32 didn't work, and the newly updated 2009.1 Navtech DVD also did not resolve the issue.

Has anyone seen anything like this or can anyone help please???

Car has DSP if that makes any difference. I tried playing with the nav volume under settings (cranked up), and even tried entering the radio service menu and cranked up the TP to +9 and nothing. Tried -( and nothing. Tried saying "instruction" with the voice activiation button and nothing. Same symptoms...

Please Help!!!

-Steve

I think there is a nav voice volume setting... I don't recall exactly which screen its on but I would start there.
