I have not heard where that car currently is.
The BMW factory near Spartanburg has a small museum they call the Zentrum. It has room for 10 or so vehicles. When I was there, cars ranged from a 30's Dixie to a 507 Roadster to a 90's F1 racer, an E30 art car, and the new at the time X5 that was used in the Insurance Institute front impact test. I recall they also had a 1920's motorcycle and airplane engine.
