This is what happens when I become bored.

There has always been a few items that my 1/90, M5 was lacking.
1) memory steering column, seats and mirrors.
2) Top HiFi Stereo System.
Attached are a couple of imaged from the memory steering column and seat upgrade. I have installed the wiring harness for the memory mirrors but I have yet to re-wire the doors and mount the memory mirrors.
The steering wheel is a Euro 3-Spoke w/air bag wheel and it is what started me down the road of replacing the steering column.
I wanted an adjustable steering column and the manual telescoping steering columns required replacing the knee bolster and the adjusting lever was not ///M like.
The steering column I chose is from an 94, E-31. The E-31 has a memory module just for the 2 steering column motors. This steering column is pretty much a bolt in upgrade.
The E-31 steering column controller wiring harness id unmodified between the controller, steering column switch and motors.
I used an E-32 seat/mirror memory controller, seat wiring & body harnesses and modified the harnesses to work with the E-31 steering column memory module and the M5 sport seats.
One of the challenges with taking this route was modifying the knee bolster trim. The trick was making several transfer templates out of 1/6 inch ABS that made cutting the knee bolster to fit the E-31 steering column trim much easier. The vinyl on the knee bolster will peel back enough to cut the bolster and then I just re-glued it back on the bolster. The upper trim strips required a similar effort.
