Hello All

Hiya Men !

Havent been on here for a while now. Still got my lovely Evo convertible although Ive had a few things done :-

1) New bonnet via warranty due to a small about of rust on a joint. Did a deal and for 700 I got the whole front half of the car and a dent on the passengers door all fixed and resprayed, car looks like new.

2) Order a new set of Angel like headlights for her. Will get them in a day or so and will fit this weekend. I love this look and Im hoping they will look the bollox ! I brought them from Devil Tweeks in the UK.

3) She's going in for a new clutch on Thursday. I fried it when trying to race a mate on his Ninja 6R. Been told will cost about 500 quidg

Im a member of the E36MPOWER@yahoogroups.com email board. There's a growing number of UK drivers there and we are all planning a meet. Anyone here from the UK want to come along ??

I find it more easier being amember of these mail groups than logining on to here all the time. Anyhow, let me know if you all want to meet. Im around the Surrey / Sussex / London area.

Laters,

Hi Simon,

Glad to see that your keeping the M3 instead of selling it! We got one this January

A 1996 Techno Violet on Silver Leather, 67k Miles a full BMW history (and extended BMW Warranty), really mint condition, air con, pdc, and a stereo setup with a 5 channel amp, nice headunit and a sub - but has the shitty standard speakers - so its needs a bit of improving!

The managing director of a BMW dealership I used to go to drove it and said that it was one of the fastest (stock) M3's he had ever driven - and I can vouch for the fact that its fast! However I think a new exhaust has to be on the list - its not nearly as aggressive as it should be!

I have a few pics here:
http://www.kydds.demon.co.uk/m3/

Have you got any online pictures of your beast?

Also, how much did the angel eyes cost? I would love to do this as it does make the 5 series look extremely aggressive - and so should suit the M3 nicely!

Cheers
Patrick

Hiya Patrick

Wow, nice car. I like that colour although I prefer black leather due to grey leather seems to get more dirty.

Mines an 98 (R) reg and I have I different steering wheel to you. Spooky though, we seem to have the same similar stereo and amp set up. My stereo cost me near 4K when I first brought mine. Word of adivce, due to the design of the car, you have to be so careful what speakers ( bass + treble ) you go for. I have a sub in the back and I cant hear a bloody thing from it due to a huge sheet of metal between the boot and the cabin (to stop car flexing)

My stereo installers hadnt done a M3 convertible so install high pitch speakers in the cabin, thinking the sub in the boot will give me the bass, but, I dont hear the sub until I put the unit on full volume. Hueits of Hove have done several M3 convertibles and you should talk to them.

Bit of a cheeky question, but how much did u pay for it ? Looks in great nick.

Also, from the pics, looks like you've got two aireals on the back on the car ?? What does the one on the left do ??

We must meet up this summer matey, go for a cruise :-)

Ill post some pics on what my angel eyes look like on my car. They cost me 240 odd (inc vat) for two complete units that I should be able to slot straight in.

Hi Simon,

The car was advertised at 18500, but I got it for 18000. The man that was selling the car was unaware it had a bmw warranty - so it was a nice bonus to find out that I have one till July! He was also unaware of the stereo, (as was I, until i pulled out the rear armrest)! So I like to think that I paid a good price for it.

The aerial on the left is for the car kit, which I have yet to change over to fit my phone - but as all the wiring is in, it should be pretty straightforward..

240 for the angel eyes is pretty cheap! I will have to wait and see what they look like - as it would be a nice upgrade to do to mine...

How is your sub actually mounted? Mine is mouted on the backseat panel (in the middle) where the armrest would go - so the majority of bass goes into giving our rear passengers and back massage... Is yours just in an enclosure in the boot?

Regards
Patrick

Patrick,

18K, looks like you had a deal there. BMW allow for thier warranty to be extended each year. 399. Where as before there was a max of 6 years or 100K miles, this has been stopped and you can keep extending each year.

My amp is in the boot. It used to be screwed to the rear bulk head but now rests against a bag, mmmm quality installation by yours truely.

My Sub is also in the boot which is why I dont get much Bass. If I could rewind time I would have done everything different but, hey ho.

Im a little iffy about 250 for angel eyes, I have seen some in the US go for about $350, so I know these look cheap. If they are crap, then Ill have to shunt them on to someone else. Im keeping positive and hope they look good. I actually reckon I will have to install the eyes into my exsiting light cluster, i.e. do the assembly my self.

Hi Patrick,
That is one nice M3 you have. That color combination is stunning in Techno Violet. What horsepower did the '96 model have? BTW, great looking euro-spec engine (a shame it was not offered here in the States).

Cheers

Hi there,

Our M3 has all 321HP!

Been a while since I last posted. The car is now on 74k Miles and requiring an inspection I service... BMW says it will be around 640 + VAT! Add on the possibility of needing some discs and pads, its going to be a fair bit more.

We are also moving house shortly, meaning we need every penny but after August, the money should be coming back in - and a supersprint sports exhaust is the first thing on my list, plus a new set of AC Schnitzer Wheels... mmm!

Will let you know as and when these upgrades occur - I will also give you a report on the BMW dealer when they do the service. No doubt, it will be anything but good after the past experiences I have had with the incompotent sh*ts!

Regards
Patrick.
