2008 Quotes from Max Cooper (A penny for your thoughts)

As the title suggests..

A penny for your thoughts and views.

Quote Max Cooper 7/6/07

Quote 1

"So, with next year being our "10th Anniversary", one thing is certain, that it will take the Gumball experience to the next level and undoubtedly path the way for the future. We've been working on this one for the past 2 years"

Quote 2

"However, after my traditional 'red herring' of suggested routes following each year's rally, here's what's happening next year"

Quote 3

"To celebrate Gumball 3000's 10th Anniversary rally, in 2008 we are embarking upon creating the ultimate rally of the future from New York to Tokyo incorporating a true once in a lifetime check point in North Korea"

So let’s summarise on the above quotes:

2 Years planning the route

No more red herrings about possible routes

The 2008 route IS New York to Tokyo.

Now let’s take a look at the latest news:

Quote Max Copper 11/6/07

Quote 1

"However, before we fully embark with the plans, we'd like to get your thoughts on 2 other routes, as well as getting any other ideas you may have come up with"

Quote 2

"Option 1: North Korea to Japan (Pyongyang - Seoul - Tokyo)

Option 2: Japan (Hiroshima - Osaka - Tokyo)

Option 3: Australian East Coast (Cairns to Sydney)

Option 4: China (Shanghai - Beijing (finishing at the Olympics opening ceremony!)"

Quote 3

"as mentioned in our mail last week we'll be confirming the route at the end of the month"

Now let’s summarise on the new quotes:

"Before we fully embark with the plans"

HHmmm.. im sure the plans are fully underway and have been for 2 years..

"as mentioned in our mail last week we'll be confirming the route at the end of the month"

Err.. what about no more red herrings and this IS the 2008 route.

"Option 1 - 4"

Looks like they have not done any route testing or planning in the last 2 years as they are now asking for our help on where to go...

Why don't you offer to do some route planning for them?

There is no chance Gumball is going to get the Australian Governments approval after the accident a few years back when a Japanese guy was killed in an F40 in the NT (Cannonball i think?).

Who would want to go there for the driving experience anyway. I have never seen roads anywhere in the world which are as seriously Policed when it comes to enforcing speed limits. Oh, and there is really only one route between Cairns and Sydney unless you have a boat!!

So Max is making it up as he goes along again. The shine really is going from this event.

I can't see Kim Jong Il of North Korea welcoming a load of Gumballers with open arms. I also think it's extremely difficult for Americans to get a visa to travel.

The Arirang Games would be one event to watch though.
