Hum ... 7 times Champion of what ?!!! Only one time Champion with the 2003 spirit of Gumball ...

I like Mr Roy's style but, as I was with him along this year's G3K I realized that he's too much "Alex Roy" !!!

The character has eaten the man ... I'm not against his new business, good thing, but that's too much ! Where is the excentricity gone ? the "Alex Roy" character is now too serious ... It's a shame ...

Cheers

Oh come on! LOL...

Ah well...too much Alex Roy is what my mom said when I was seven, and I think it's also what my last girlfriend said to me before we broke up, although we're still quite good friends because she still laughs at my jokes!

It's still me...the same guy, and I'll still talk to anyone kind enough to say hi, of course. I think everyone will be surprised at the book, whether they like it or not. It's...funny, but also quite serious.

As for the bottom title text...I'm afraid our friends in the marketing department have chosen to take any and/or all recognition - whether for spirit, style, stage ranking (official or unofficial), TV show score and the various other trophies and throw them altogether...

I think you'll find that the book is actually quite humble - I give HUGE respect to the legends like Lonman and many others, while telling what truth I know and have observed behind many of the more famous stories of their exploits. I'm also quite clear about the differences between rallies, races, stages, trophies for arbitrary feats, and just about 65% of what I've seen or done 2003-2006 - which is all I could fit in 372 pages, which left me with almost 400 more pages that had to be cut.

I've been first and almost last, and called virtually every driver with whom I've ever interacted. I've corroborated EVERY incident and claim in the book against two or more sources, whether video, still, eyewitnesses, blog entries, police reports, CB radio traffic, or any other sources I could find. I will be publishing 100% of my research and documentation on my website upon release of the book, and look forward to discussing what was included, and what wasn't, alas!

To be clear about the claim of "7":

2003 Gumball Spirit Trophy
2004 Gumball Style Trophy
2004 Bullrun USA Best Team (2nd Place)
2004 Bullrun Ibiza 1st Place
2005 Gumball 2nd Place (unofficial, of course)
2005 Bullrun 2nd Place
2006 Gumball 1st Place (TV show and stages)

All the best, and MUCH respect to all the drivers (Lonman, thanks for calling me back! You are the greatest, of course...and I KNOW you will enjoy your portrayal) and forum members who helped me so much during the last year of research...

Best,
Alex

Marketing type huh... guess it does make the cover look better.

No denying what you have accomplished in the Rallys you have done, greatest respect.

It should have been my face on the cover... I taught Alex everything he knows... he stole my glory!

On a slightly more serious note (though not disputing the indisputable truths in the first sentance), I am really looking forward to reading this tome. I am hoping that Alex has not been too guarded in his comments about various people (except about me), and I hope to that the book relects Alex's genuine, though often slightly manic, personality.

In short, I hope that Alex comes through and not some vision of what a pony-tailed-coke-snorting-ear-ringed-karma-concious hippy of a marketing guy thinks will sell.

Having spoken to Alex about this project (bloödy ages ago), I am very confident that the book will become a reference novel for those people for whom the car is more than just a mode of transport, or who have suffered drastic and forced transitions in their lives.

BE

PS Alex, after that plug you have got to let me have an early copy
