so sad to hear something like that. i'm surprised it didn't happen more often consider how people drive.....

maybe that's why gumball3000's forum is down...they don't want people talking about it.

sad to hear such a thing . like jeff said , something might change , altough some years ago on the quote challenge 1 driver died in bulgaria , and it's still runing today .

this is what happens when bad roads and policemans that don't care combine. . isn't one of the drivers the brother of the the guy with the black slr from 2005 and 2006 ?

This had to happen at some time.

What Max does not realize or even care about is that big wallets and fast cars do not always go hand in hand with common sense and respect. There are too many people with cars far too powerful for their driving skills. Granted the Gumball is all about going fast and having a total blast and we are looking for glory but lets get a grip here.

Having done the Gumball I have seen this for myself. So long as Max keeps taking the money and not managing the event correctly the Gumball will continue to build a bad rep and soon Like Germany this year, more countries will become no-go areas for the Gumball.

My hopes and prayers go out to the family of the victims and I hope she makes a good recovery. Loosing a father is hard enough but those kids do not deserve to loose both parents. If there is anything I can do I will.

This is a dark day for the Gumabll and max should be ashamed of himself for not making an official announcement sooner.

RIP Gumball??

Just read this: http://jalopnik.com/cars/gumball-300...ity-257447.php

I do hope it is not true that they did a runner the gutless *******. Cannot believe that they would leave the couple for dead......sickening. But I bet they will get of without any blame......money talks in those countries. Doubt Max would stop them entering next years rally should there be one.

I just cannot believe that the rest of the world have reacted to this accident and yet Max and Gumball HQ have stuck their heads in the sand.

Just read this on MakFax:

Injured woman in Struga car accident still in critical condition
Skopje /03/05/ 17:59
The condition of Margarita Chepeljoska, who was hit near Struga by a speeding car, driven, according to witnesses, by two Britons, remains critical.

The spokesman of the Skopje Clinical Center confirmed this to Makfax on Thursday afternoon.

The Director of the Center, Borce Georgievski, gave similar statement few hours earlier. "Chepeljoska's condition is highly critical... the doctors are struggling to save her life", he said.

"It is difficult to speculate as to the prognosis. I keep constant contact with the doctors from the Department, who are briefing me continuously on her condition", Georgievski said.

Chepeljoska, who was urgently transferred to the Anesthesiology, Reanimation and Intensive Care Department, has suffered multiple fractures of the ribs, pelvis as well as severe lung injuries.

Her husband, Vladimir Chepeljoski, succumbed yesterday to the injuries he sustained in the car accident, involving two British citizens, participants in the international rally Gumball 3000, who tried to run from the scene of the incident.

Nick and Matthew should be hung out to dry over their cowardly actions. They are scum for not staying to help out.

as i heard one of the drive was free to go . nicholas morley apparently remains in their custody .
Skopje, May 3 (MIA) - British national Nicholas Morley, who drove the "Porsche" involved in Wednesday's traffic accident near border crossing Kjafasan has been arrested and handed over to the Basic Public Prosecution and an investigative judge. He has been charged with grave acts against traffic security and lack of aid provision to an injured individual, stated Ministry of Interior Spokesman Ivo Kotevski.
The traffic accident occurred at road Struga-Kjafasan, when the "Porsche" crossed to the other lane with great speed, hitting a "Volkswagen Golf" with Ohrid register plates.
The accident resulted in the ***** of the "Golf" driver Vladimir Capunoski (67), while his wife Margarita is fighting for her life in Skopje's Clinical Center.
Following the accident, the British national left the vehicle at the site and headed for the border crossing. During a police control of all vehicles, the driver and his co-driver were found in a "BMW" with Russian register plates.
The "Porsche" was part of the convoy of foreign luxury vehicles within race "Gumball Rally", headed by millionaires and jet-setters. The rally began in London and ends in Istanbul, crossing through 32 countries in only seven days.

That's very sad news indeed and my heart goes out to the Capunoski family and their friends.

I'm a little surprised to see Max/Gumball getting as much, if not more stick on here as the driver of the Porsche... Max is guilty of organising a high profile road rally, but he's not directly responsible for the all the drivers' actions. If the driver has run from the scene as reported, he deserves to get the book thrown at him...

As a side note, to the best of my knowledge, all the major crashes on previous rallys (including the one which left my friend in hospital for several months with a broken back) haven't received any sort of official comment... Since then, he's never pointed any fingers at Max as being the bad guy...
