If your company is likely to get any more business from such an event then definitely, but not all companies will.
My own start-up which is German based will get NO business from this thing so from that point of view it's a complete waste of money.

Anyway, I have no idea what the fee is to participate but judging from similar events and the "expensiveness" of this run I doubt it's "cheap" so that rules me out for now.

Participating in the Players Run is for fun. But by putting stickers of your company on the car it's like sponsoring the car. So you are able to write off the costs!

I know that writing off things is much easier in the US, but in Germany it should be possible, too. I think your tax consultant can help you.

Besides you can share the entry fee with your co-pilot.

Lasse, not exactly true what you write...pictures of a participating car will be traded and seen everywhere on the net...this includes many many Germans...also, think about the German TV and print media.
Yes, it makes sense for a foreign company to advertise ( if the products fits ) even though the company may only serve a local or national market.

Think about how may people from the UK have seen pics of gumball cars with their UK sponsors on it.....despite that the run was in the US. Hey, I just saw pics all week from a dutch race held in Europe and I live in the States ;O)

btw, with all the cool successful participants you are in contact with all the time, I'm sure you would find someone who could give you some hints for your startup which would be worth much more than the $ you spend on the race ;O)

~~ Hey, pssst, Playersrun is coming to Europe incl. Munich soon ;O) ~~

Markus is right! The Players Run is for fun, but helps you also to get new and important business contacts. On the Gumball I made many new friends and while talking to each other we have had new business ideas in mind. Actually I have already a very qualified team to expand my company in UK and the USA. When we're ready for that step we can start very fast.

The Gumball was held in the USA, but I saw our Gumball ride not only in the US media, but also in German TV and in Gumball videos spread all over the world. And on German TV I was able to advertise my company while I was interviewed. These are only some examples - I saw myself even in the English issue of the Financial Times.

On the Players Run you're going to have much fun and also your business could profit by the Players Run:
