McLaren F1 - would be a nice addition to the garage
Hey lads,
Well, probably mostly for fun my dad and I have been checking up on the Mclaren F1 quite a lot recently. No promises, but the car is very nice and would be a good investment. We realised the F1 LM is too rare to get a hold of, but the 'ordinary' F1 would do just fine . Anyone know anything worth mentioning about these cars - like where you can try one of them and what to do if you're interested in buying one? So far I've only been able to locate one of them for sale, it's sitting at a dealer's lot down in germany, would be a nice cruise for the beast .
All the best
Gustav

2005 BMW M5, it's not on order, it's here!
Sepang Bronze/Sepang Leather/Aluminium - It's in the garage!! And not so much on the road, stupid clutch!!
To clear something up that has been bothering me; my name is Gustav (hello board leader ), my dad's name is Morten. I post 99% of all posts under the MortenDK account - so call me Gustav
Now that would be a great car to go beside the M5.. But maybe just maybe they are a bit pricey, but indeed one of the few modern cars that has a price which is not plummeting...
Rofl Bingocaller, of course it won't be put on plates, which would make it completely unsellable again. It's a lot of money of course, but since it isn't dropping in value, it's not lost money like we probably would've lost $80,000 by the time we decide to sell the current beast. Best thing about the Mclaren is that it fits in the garage! Only 1,82 m wide...
There are 65 F1's ever built of a total of 100 road going McLarens, so I wouldn't imagine there being many of them up for sale simultaneously ever, since most are stored away in private collectors collections..
Prices ranging from $1 000 000 - £1 000 000 from what I've seen - hope you got a good garage with good security..

Rumour is there is a new McLaren record breaking car in development..
"Please send your questions to askmclaren@mclaren.com and the most popular, interesting or challenging will be answered online. Please note that we cannot personally respond to individual questions. However we will endeavour to answer as many of your technical questions as possible. LATEST QUESTION
IS McLAREN PLANNING TO CREATE ANOTHER RECORD BREAKING CAR IN THE FUTURE, JUST LIKE THE McLAREN F1? AND IF SO, WHEN CAN WE EXPECT TO HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT IT? (from Ben Shirk)
McLaren Automotive is currently deeply engaged in the development of future models. Furthermore McLaren has an extremely strong heritage and brand, and given the strong growth of the super sportscar market it is clear that there is plenty of space in this market for a car which reflects our brand attributes and values. Stay connected to the McLaren website for the latest information about the next McLaren."
Might be a better idea to wait for this one, call in early and get one "cheap" straight from the factory...
Well, you could honestly not assume that a car made in 65 in total is anywhere near a 'safe investment' - I'd say if you really didn't care about the price and really wanted a ultra-car, then the McLaren F1 is the car, otherwise I'd say seek elsewhere..
As to any future car, I believe the McLaren F1 is a special car in auto history, along with cars like the F40, and although its not impossible, I do not think whatever car they do next will attain that status. It would likely have to satisfy too many masters to achieve that. JMHO.

Keep in mind a tune up on one of these things cost 30,000 dollars and I can only imagine insurance costs. So, if you're driving the thing you're going to incur large expenses quickly. Many people can afford a Ferrari, but few can hang with the maintenance costs.
