Car and Driver says Audi R8 4.0 sec to 60

I could not believe my eyes the April 2007 edition of Car and Driver says they tested the R tronic Audi R8 at 0-60 in 4.0 seconds. This time does not add up when compared to the M6 at a weight to power ratio of 7.8 lbs per hp (3909lbs./500hp) vs. Audi R8 at 8.3 lbs./hp (3500/420).

I guess better traction with all wheel drive makes a diff? I have never seen any test results for the M6 or M5 at 4.0 flat.

AWD helps with that light of a car and that much power. Also I believe the R8 has a DSG gearbox too, right? That could shave as much as 0.1-0.2 seconds off the 0-60 time right there assuming it's as efficient as a manual/SMG tranny.

the audi is still slower than a lambo which in turn is equal/slower than the m5. the 0-60 is a result of the awd.

Nope. The R-tronic is the e-Gear sequential manual used in the Gallardo. There is no DSG offered in the R8 (yet).

everyone please take note that c/d uses a track that is slightly downhill, which affects the times. for instance, 0-60 on the e46 m3 is listed by bmw at 4.8, but c/d once got it at 4.5, which confused me so i investigated and found that was the result. however, the audi is definitely quick.
