Here is an article i found that says his collection is worth $4 billion. It says he has 8 McLarens, he has had bentley and Rolls build him cars for $17 million each, and he has a room just for building special cars for his collection. Check it out

Hello everyone,

I'm a big fan of the Royal Brunei Collection and have a gallery on SCN with over 800 (and growing) pictures of their cars: http://www.supercars.net/gallery/129612/976/1.html

There are two threads, on SCN and on Fchat, where all these cars are discussed. Especially the last few months I've also posted alot of information on there.

Stumbo, I really enjoyed reading your posts about your work on the Java's. +1 for sharing those stories I'm really curious if you know if the Java Coupe's (P705) were sent to Brunei? Because at the time the P700's and P710's arrived, the P705 was nowhere to be seen. I had some more questions for you, but I forgot those, doh :-/

YYZ-M3, do you perhapds know the source of the pictures you posted? Or did you take them? If you don't want to discuss this out in the open please drop me a pm

Greetings

PS
I read somewhere on this forum that someone wasn't sure wether the pictures in my gallery are of the actual Royal collection. Well, they are. All those cars are or were owned by the Brunei Royal Family. Of course it is possible that I made some mistakes, but those are unknown to me.

edit: I remember a question :p
Stumbo, do you know what happened to the Java Concept cars?

I might be getting confused given age. I remeber them as:
P700 = convertible
P710 = shooting break
P705 = coupe
-- I may have the last two the wrong way round in the following.
#################

It was a long time ago and in another life (i've been in IT for many years since that work ) so I do enjoy remembering .
I remember the 705's as more bling. I seem to recall the wheels were bigger and had more chrome. We got to the 705's last, I'm not sure why but think that they were meant to be the icing on the cake. On the others 700/710 We did hear snippets about "the red ones going to his brother" or "theres a rumor he might be keeping a green 710 in London!!!" but I can't recall anything specific to the 705.

My last memories of the 705's was working in the RRBMC/MPW compound at MIRA. There was a bit of jealousey on the faces of the Jaguar & other manufacturer faces when she hit the track but to be honest every one at MIRA would still be jaded if even if the space shuttle flew in.

I certainly got no impression that the majority of the 705's were destined for anywhere *other* than Brunei.

The windows were meant to automagically go down and then up when you closed the door. But you can clearly see from the photo its failed. There were all sorts of *quirks* on that project, more than a few that I was involved in
Its weird how your memory works. I've just re-read this a remember sitting having lunch with the Bentley engineers months after the scoop and they were cussing because they realised that the people organising the delivery and the people at the airport had disconnected the batteries and then open and closed the door - hence the window had no power to lower and raise.

Cheers , Stumbo

That Coupe sure sounds like something special, I'd love to see it.

Did you also got to see/work on the other special projects?

btw, were you the one that left that message @ bentleyspotting?

what "bentleyspotting" ?? - no idea.

"other special projects" Never worked on them, and when at Crewe there was loads of "we can not and must not let you see behind that curtain" and they were serious. Invariably given time I saw some of the other cars.

The madest was the one that looked a bit like the Batmobile out of the Batman Returns film.
