Tiff knows what he's talking about, always has. However, I doubt it will do anything to sway European bias against the Z06...there are even some nay-sayers on this board, who refuse to admit what the Z06 is. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.
Really nice vid and tiff knows how to drive so well!! I am a european but I love the Vette.. I also think that the Z06 is the car that will gradually change the way people feel about Corvette. The heritage of Ferrari and Porsche et al are something that is very deep and the feeling is different, but anybody who says the Z06 is a bad car etc is a little ignorant IMO.. Its also nice because it makes others strive to keep their speed and exclusivity and thus makes for better sports and supercars.. and the Z06 has seen lots of Ring time and that also has made it the car it is..

I agree with you. I'm a feverish Formula 1 fan, so my "coupe" of choice is a Ferrari. BUT, I have the utmost respect for the Z06, and have no misconceptions about what the car is capable of. Winning Le Mans 24h GT1 class, 4 years in a row with 1-2 finishes...this Z06 is pretty much the "street" version of that C5R/C6R. Fearsome machine indeed. I can understand where a lot of Europeans would hate the Z06/Corvette...just like in the 80's when Americans hated Japanese cars...because they were better than the hometown hero. I believe that the Euro-bias towards the Corvette is the same situation.
I dont know whether it has anything to do with the better car denial thing, because the Z06 hasn't been on sale in Europe for too long and there isn't even much tests or info that the peole would base their arguments on.. Time will tell...
Also over here they are not so much a bargain as in the US (even though they are way cheaper than the real opposition, speed wise).. Best bang for buck it would appear. Of course cars like Noble are also in the same ballpark so there are options.. there always are.. always will be.. no matter what car you drive, there always will be someone with a faster car.. ( well maybe Veyron drivers can say that )
and of course everyone is entitled to their opinions, but we should try to be open to the fact that there are nice cars everywhere like the R34 Skyline that made its reputation by Gran Turismo and not actually being seen on the roads too much (UK being the exception in that)

There's plenty of performance data on the car from publications here in the US. The Z06 pretty much decimates anything that is a street legal production car thats under $400k USD. It's not cheap, I believe it's over priced at $70k USD, but it's still a better performance value than anything else you're going to find.
As for the Skyline GTR, it's not in production any more. But when it was, it was one of Japan's few supercars. You should check out the Best Motoring videos. They have comparisons of everything Japan has to offer against everything Europe has to offer. The videos are awesome, it's great to see real racing professionals driving these cars to their absolute limits, in track races, drifting battles (Togue), general performance tests, endurance races...it's all awesome. The Best Motoring guys who are all Japanese, actually hail the M3 CSL as the benchmark for FR layout cars. The videos changed my opinions about a lot of things. I thought the NSX and the S2000 were stupid cars that were a waste of money, but after seeing them in the hands of professionals, I now know what incredible things they are capable of, when driven by the right person.
What most people don't realize is the fact the Z06 moniker goes back 40 years (50 years for Corvette and 'Vette racers). That's as prestigious as the 911 moniker in the sports car world.

We europeans tend to wait for our own mags to see the results for some reason (you guys tend to get lots of different numbers, plus the roads are different so the driving feel tends to be a little different.. )
Of course I have read lots of tests from the net etc, but I am not most europeans :P
and the Skyline was just an example I'm well aware it has been discontinued for some time, the new model will come out probably and hopefully next year.. and yes, also watched quite a few of the best motoring vids too
