bye bye Beast - hello ferrari f430 or lambo gallardo??

Hi, my fellow beast masters. i have not posted for months now. i need help in deciding on a matter that requires your expertise. i have owned my 2003 M5 for a year and half and enjoyed it very much. i have been involved in a lot of bay area M5 meets and have tried to promote M5 community in the bay area.
i have spent well over $35k on mods on my M5 and have been waiting for a quality super charger to come out on the market to purchase. i have had a lot of fun with my beast but all good things must come to an end. i am working towards getting a ferrari f430 or the lambo gallardo or may be even a porsche gt2 to replace the beast. what do you guys & gals think i should do.
i would have lved the idea of keeping the beast and to get the new car but i own a BMW 760LI (2005) and a BMW X5 4.4i (2001) and it would not work financially. btw just so you know, i am 28 yr's old and not married.
please help.

What exactly are you asking? Buy whatever car you like. Sounds like you have the cabbage to do whatever you want. Personally, Ferrari > *.

Re: bye bye Beast - hello ferrari f430 or lambo gallardo??

Sal.. say it ain't so! F430 at this point would be way up there in price if you don't have a relationship with FoSV or FoSF. Even if you get a "used" one, you will be looking at approximately $240K plus. The Gallardo on the other hand is fairly accessible and the price is actually pretty reasonable for what it is new in the high 170-180K. Used ones have come down in price quite a bit. The feedback on the gallardo is it's a great daily driver and maintenance is considerably cheaper than the Fcar. GT2 woud be pretty awesome too but after driving one, it's a little to raw for the street.. ferociously fast though..

If you are getting rid of a 4 door sedan, why not the 760? The X5 is a good allpirpose vehicle, has plenty of room for 5. The M5 is your 4 door sports car. The 430, Lambo, or Pcar would be the two seat sports car. Absent some compelling reason to keep the 760 over the M5, I would give up the 760.
Regards,
Jerry

Re: bye bye Beast - hello ferrari f430 or lambo gallardo??

Ouch...another one bites the dust...
Sorry to hear that you must part, sal. I've always enjoyed seeing your posts...I think the catchy name caught my eye (a bit late to be asking you, but is there any story behind EMPEROR?)

As far as the cars go, german engineering all the way! Personally, I'd say go with the GT2.

Ferraris are impressive, but if you ask me, they are mostly for those without an imagination. They're amazing and beautiful cars, but I feel that most of the people that buy them do so just because they have too much money and not because they appreciate cars. If you're going to go italian, why go with the 'baby'?...splurge for the beast

why do you want it, and what do you want to do with it

these are the two most important questions to ask when buying a car.

I'd take the 430 over the Lambo, it is about as good as it gets, and I'd avoid a GT2, but the GT3 (which I owned for 16 months and did over 30 track days with, is a much, more useful car than the 430 if you want to track a lot.

Back to horses for courses, so what's your course?

Re: bye bye Beast - hello ferrari f430 or lambo gallardo??

Sal,

Why the big rush to dump the M5 after putting in $35K in the last few months? Why not enjoy it awhile longer -- or are you just bored with it already? After all that you've done to the it, I'd get rid of the 760 or X5 before the M5. Your M5 is now unique; the other two are basically stock and, I would presume, much easier to sell without taking a $$ bath.

Just my $0.02
