Uhh... there are plenty of great vehicles with macpherson strut setups. You don't just bolt the parts on and let the vehicle out the door, there is tuning involved. I just see that as a pretty brazen statement to make about BMW's choice. Not meaning to make this into a full on suspension discussion. Just my two cents.
I think GM should throw a swing axle on the CTS V.
Absoluelty, I am aware of the limitations that you mentioned but didnt want to get into a debate over it. Just stating, that there are definite great performers out there. There of course will be certain points where the overall performance will not be able to match. Though I think that would be way up on the performance scale. GM is still GM to me and I don't feel they put their full range of abilities into many vehicles, particulary suspension. I hope this will be different. Z06 is all they have going for them in my opinion.
We could debate suspension designs all day long, but in any event, GM's use of an SLA suspension and extensive Nurburgring testing for the CTS and the CTS V is a good sign that they are moving in the right direction.
Remember, this car doesn't directy compete with any BMW model, at the 50,000 price point it's either a 530i or a CTS V and they are interesting alternatives to each other with totaly different characteristics.
Does anyone have any more info on the CTS V? I got the movie downloaded from the Wieck site - the car sounds GREAT! a true dual exhaust with an H pipe will do that.
I agree caddy seems to want to do it right with the cts and the v model, but the look inside and out I cannot warm up to and if they dont stop ruining Led Zeppelin, I may have to forever boycott them- that is until Bagle finds a way to make the CTS look really appealing

The most thorough information is in the press release that's linked from one of the earliest messages in this topic.
This is with John Heinricy, showroom stock racer, former member of the Corvette team, and current Director of High Performance Vehicles for GM's Performance Division behind the wheel.
Automobile also reported that the journalists were dipping below nine minutes when they were driving.
