sport auto: Mercedes SL 55 AMG vs. SL 600

sport auto has tested the Mercedes SL 55 AMG vs. the SL 600.

Not much difference but the SL 55 certainly seems a lot more agile even though the difference in weight is only 13 kg.
The power-weight ratio is more or less the same, except the SL 600 has 100 Nm more torque and also at a lower rpm.

Does it reply the quetion on how fast the SL 55 AMG is?

Sorry I can't input the pics in here so check link.

The 55AMG looks much better!!!
The 600 still doesn’t impress…we still have to wait that AMG touches the V12.

0-160 km/h in 9,2 seconds is pretty impressive to me

I wouldn't mind either, but I suspect that driving them may be quite different considering the difference between the V8 - V12.

I actually prefer the SL600 to the 55 AMG. The bodykit on the AMG version just doesn't look like it was designed for the car. Looks out of place on such an elegant and sleek machine. In terms of engine, I think I'd take the 600 too. Performace is virtually identical but the 600 has better low end torque and would suit the character of the SL better. Lets face it, the SL is no sports car, it's a luxury cruiser.
