Porsche 911 Turbokit versus Audi RS6 in the snow

Swedish Auto Motor & Sport tested the Audi RS6 Saloon versus the Porsche 911 Turbo with powerkit (450 hp) in the snow.

The Audi RS6 came out as the overall winner with 49 stars vs. 44.

I know it is not entierly fair to compare these cars, but hey I didn't set this test up. I know it has to do with personal taste and need.

In icy conditions the RS6 leaves the 911 Turbo behind, one reason being the Audi has more weight over the front axle.
It is still impressive that the much heavier RS6 leaves the 911 Turbo with powerkit behind!
The cars had the same tires, 18" Pirelli Winter 240 Snowsport.

In daily use they claim the Audi is much more responsive to thottle than the 911 Turbo! A big surprise to me.

Another surprise is that they don't get the 100% quality feel in the Porsche whereas the RS6 is perfect.

Some figures RS6 / 911:

0 - 100 km/h: 4.9 / 3.9
0 - 160 km/h: 11.2 / 8.4
1 km: 24.2 / 22.3

Slalom 73 / 71.5

Braking 100 - 0: 37,8 / 36.4 (warm)

Some pictures from the test
and a lot more here. Enjoy!

Although quite cool.

Pun intended.

I can understand the throttle response difference (supposing it doesn't come from gear box kick down effect ?) between the 2 cars. The Porsche getting it's performance from a smaller block will have less response when you cruise in the lower end of the rpm range and then suddenly mash the throttle.

Also I read quite a lot about the Porsche power kit. Higher HPs but you need to rev the engine more. It looks like it's really usefull at very high speed but the torque peak is higher and the elasticity figures are not as good as the non x50 TT (I posted these figs on the Porsche forum a while ago)

Cool they compared these 2 cars even if they are so different

AFAIK the RS6 has Quattro, the 911 hasnīt.

i think thats the reason why he was the clear winner.

I think NOT.

The 911T doesn't have "quattro" but it's still a four wheel drive.

I think it lost due to other reasons as it would win for other reasons as well.

Yes. But the Porsche has permanent 4WD as well, just another system.

And it's quattro with a small q
