the NSX just got a facelift, and IMHO looks WAY better. The new Engine will be due in 2004 i think, Honda is very good at keeping their new models a secret. The downside to it is that it costs alot of money, money better spent on other exotics. You don't get the bang for the buck, its too much. I mean, for a V6 with 290 HP...costs 90 Grand USD? i just don't think its worth it. The new NSX coming out in a couple years is rumed to be equiped with a V8, this is a new Area for Honda for sports cars, and i am expecting something very fast and very practical.

Don't get me wrong, i love hondas, i think they are a great value, but the current NSX is just a big waste of money, an S2000 with a garage mate of an M5 would be very nice

It comes down to what you would enjoy driving.

I see you would consider used. An NSX could be very "affordable" used.

From all reports, the NSX is as reliable as you can get. The handling is one of the best. The acceleration is on par with an M5. The looks are still head-turning. Great exclusivity.

The only downside I have ever heard about is tire life expectation is about 1/2 of other performance cars.

This is one car still worth considering. If I didn't have all my car projects, I would definitely consider an NSX.

There are a couple of NSX boards out there, do a search.
I have never heard an NSX owner or previous owner say anything bad about the car, only good.

Here is one of the better NSX boards. The people there should be able to answer any questions you might have.

www.nsxprime.com

I prefer the styling of the pre-facelift models myself. The new lights and airdamn just dont fit the rest of the body in my opinion.

the new NSX won't have a V8!

Honda might add a eletric motor to make up the power. but i don't think they are going to a field where they've never been in for the NSX.

from an article i've read few days back on the internet, the new Acura RL will possibly be powered by a 3.5L V6 that powers the front and have 1 or maybe 2 electric motor that powers the rear. and i think Honda might do the same for the NSX

Honda says it will resist trend to produce V-8, rwd vehicles

Tony,

This is just bait for me. I LOVE the NSX. Is it the "perfect" car/sports car? No. Is it a great all around car/sports car? YES. Many people have their opinions about it, many popular feelings were expressed in just this thread. I will agree with every fiber in me that it needs more power, but that is easily solvable . . .

Any speculation on the next gen NSX is purely that. There have been so many people who claim V8, or hybrid, or $55k, or $155k, or . . . get my point?

Andrew is right, NSXPrime is THE place to find information. There is no better site that discusses the car, known problems, VIN's of totalled NSX's, etc. If you do your research there, you will likely know more about the car than the person selling it . . . that is, unless they also visit the site.

Bart is right on, it is VERY reliable. Kinda like 2001's comment, it's a Honda, just no Honda most people have ever driven! The only problems seem to be well known and documents, I have heard of VERY few electical issues. Tire wear? Yep, not great, IF you have the '91 alignment specs. They are very aggressive on the camber and you can go through a set of rears in 5000 miles (soft compound). Later, Honda shipped a more tire friendly spec and most don't feel a loss in handling.

Like many have said, the new NSX may not be competitive with what is out on the market right now, but a very good option would be a 1997 NSX. Yes, it does not have the updated look (I prefer the old style), but it has the 290 hp and 6 speed tranny. Previous to then, it was 270 and a 5 speed. That may be an option and that will set you back about $55k. Do I have your attention yet?

Anyhow, yes, I am an ex-NSX owner . . . I'm sure you couldn't tell. Let's just say I love the car, for all it's faults and mostly for is amazing ability to go far beyond the limits you might expact for a Honda. Kevin

in all honesty, you don't know that it won't have a V8, no one does. Honda is hush hush about all their cars. Look at the S2000, almost no one had ANY spyshots or specs prior to its release. But the electric motor thing is probably going to be a part of the package. It adds fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance. But i am crossing my fingers for a V8, i have heard many rumors on a V8 NSX for the next gen (its about time, 10 years later )

EDIT: oops, i just read the article, that really sucks!!
