Peculiar sighting in NYC: E55 4matic Wagon?

Spotted a red E55 4matic wagon today in upper east side of Manhattan with Switzerland license plates front and back. I am aware E55 wagons are not sold in the states so it was quite a surprised to see such a car in the flesh.

according to MBspy, an E55 4matic wagon does exist. (click here)

However, I thought this might had been a fake though because the design of the seats and the seating surfaces remind me of those on the regular E class sedan/wagon. I am aware that the E55s have a different seating design and surface. It was dim out when I saw this car so was not able to see if the speedometer had an 'AMG' designation on it. However, I was able to see on the shift knob that it was an Avantgarde model.

I was thinking this might have been a E430 4matic with the Avantgarde option which had been rebadged by the owner as a E55 4matic.

So a question to those who are familar with AMG cars: Could this be a 'real' 4matic E55 wagon that I saw?

It looks exactly like this from the outside but in magma red.

I've already seen an E55 4matic, but it was a sedan, not a wagon.

How many of the 4matic E55's went into production?

        Wow very rare!

It says on the trunk "E55 4-Matic" and on the right side "AMG".

Wow, fun with a Swiss car at Manhattan!

Yes, it looks like this but in Magma red:

I was surprised when I saw the car, and even more surprised when I saw the Swiss plates there with no US state plates. I still doubt that its a 'real' E55 as it does not have the contour seating of the E55's - just the normal seating design in the regular E-class - or maybe it was a special order since the leather was close to cinnamon in color.

I'll just have to have my camera with me from now on for these kind of sightings
