"Official" introduction to the forum - lots of pix.

Hi everyone, new guy here.

Couldn't find "introduction" board, so I decided to post in the section where my primary interests are - E39 M5!
A bit about me - name is Alex, I have been lurking on this forum for some time now, but realized I never registered or posted an introduction. I know, not a lot of people do that nowadays, but folks on this forum seem like a great bunch, in a way not a lot of forums are, so I thought I'd tell you a bit about myself/my cars, and how I ended up on this forum.

My BMW obsession started about 6 years ago - with a 2000 Impala Brown 2.3 Roadster that I bought used with 30K miles on the clock. Impala Brown is a relatively rare color, and it was a love/hate color - me and my wife loved it! Classic Brown leather nicely complimented its exterior, and I've done many mods to the car back then.

Me and my wife loved this little Z so much that when it came the time to buy another car for her, she said she wanted a BMW. We leased a year-old 2004 530i Sport, and it was a very different, but nonetheless excellent car. I've installed an ///M-Tech kit on it, and the look was very purposeful.

Sadly, few days before Christmas 2007, my beloved Z was t-boned by a girl in a Chevy Silverado when she was distracted by a cell-phone call. Even though the car was totaled, I was unharmed.

And as soon as I received insurance check, I bought me a 2002 2.5 Roadster, 37th to the last one off the assembly line!

Meanwhile, my son turned 2, and was about to start daycare. Since I was the one dropping him off, and my wife was picking him up, we needed 2 cars able to carry a toddler, and my Z had to go....It was a sad day, but I found a worthy replacement - I took a plunge and bought my "other" dream car - 645Ci Sport. Took me 3 months of nationwide searching to find this CPO 6er in Black Sapphire/Chateau Red with 27K miles on it (41K on it now). Pretty rare color combo, especially with the options on this car.

The lease on our 530i was up, and my wife loved the car so much that we bought a CPO '05 545i Sport (to which I immediately installed an M-Tech pack and black kidney grilles!).

But after driving 6er for a few months, I realized that I'm missing my Z so bad, I can't even enjoy my 6er. So I decided to get another Z - and this time, I wanted an M Coupe.

M coupes are a rare breed, with only ~2200 S52-engined examples and ~700 S54-engined cars made. A search for the right car took a while, but finally I found a 2000 S52 in Chicago that I bought and brought to Texas. The car went through some restoration work, complete overhaul of cooling system, few mods, and this is how it looks like right now:

But....the car bug bit again, and since I was always a HUGE fan of E39 M5, I'm on my quest to find me a good specimen of the "beast"! So, this is how I ended up on this forum. I "kinda" started my search, but mostly looking around, gathering information right now. Don't know much about the car yet, and I have not driven one yet (probably will test-drive a 2000 MY on Monday), but looking forward to learning as much as I can on this board. So for now, I will be looking, and dreaming, hoping to get one soon - the prices are very good right now. So, if you guys have any suggestions or pointers - they are very welcome!

Anyway, sorry for such a long-winded post, good to meet you all folks,

Alex

Well, yeah, but I keep most of them :-) Sure hope I'll find a good one, cause that'll be a keeper (though, I'll need a bigger garage).

Sure, not the best pix, but this is all I've got on this computer.
