Bob Lutz has thrown down the gaunlet.... Any unmodified car against the CTS-V at Laguna Seca.... We already know the M5 vs. the new CTS-V is a driver's race despite the power advantage of the Caddy.
The M community is calling for all great drivers with stock M5.
Who can step up? Or are we going to let a Caddy win by default??

IMHO, This marketing ploy further cheapens the image of the CTS-V.
It already has an image issue as being a "cheap American" car.
The niche consumer that the CTS-V is directed at is fully aware of its capabilities, and it is the "darling" of the automotive press by besting the M5 and the XFR.
This maneuver has a circus like atmosphere that only cheapens its image.
Those of us on the fence (namely ME) might be adversely affected by such stunts...
On a serious note it is amazing how the guys from the country where marketing is religion, read USA, are loosing the marketing battle to the rest of the world, Bob Lutz needs to be replaced by some BMW/LV/Gucci/Panerai/Prada marketing guys, they know one thing or two of how to make you pay for the privilege .
I know that track, very, very well. What would be funny is if I showed up in an e30 M3 and whipped the CTS-V. I dont think Bob realizes that Laguna is a very technical track and is not conducive to the high hp of the Caddy.
I just read the article, so here is the edit. e90 M3 sedan with DCT and EDC. No other options. Base price is less and the car is much more agile. I think Bob should have picked Willow Springs for this test.

I agree, Willowsprings would have showed the Caddy's potential but maybe Bob wants a challenge, So lets give him one Cosmo!
