Gustav, I have M5 but looking at 997tt, opinions

I had sent you a ICQ a few days ago.

In your experience over the past YEARS of cars, what would you get in ways of a 2008 Porsche 997 TT, Tiptronic or Manual.

We will be doing some runs like you do and I am Selling my M5 after 4 years of pleasure to get a 997. But I am torn between Manual and Tip.

I don't care about "being connected" to the car, just what goes fast. I plan on the chipped ECU as well..

Anyone can chime in as there has been a few from the M5 world to jump camp to the 997 TT. I hope to be one of those lucky people one day if the wife stays in a good mood 1 more week!

Thank you all.

Wow, I havent loggid into my ICQ for years. Maybe time to do that

I would definetly get a 9967 TT manual since we have seen at speeds it is faster since ti is first of all amnual but 6 gears insetad of 5 gears as well.

However, I would have chose a PDK 997 Turbo the new generation but that is only because Double clutch is so state of the art.

Just wanted to let you know that I picked up a 997TT in January. It is a cabrio and I chose the automatic. The ONLY reason I took the automatic is because I wanted my wife to be able to drive it, should the need arise (i.e. I've had a few too many), and we have lots of traffic on the freeways here. I find the automatic well suited for driving around in traffic in Southern California, but I really miss having a manual for spirited driving. It is said that the automatic a tad bit quicker on acceleration from the start, but once you get rolling, manual is the way to go. Also, the automatic is only 5 speed as of right now. I have an 08, and I wish they had the PDK on the Turbo. You mentioned that you were going to chip the car, etc., so I assume this may not be your daily driver, but if it is, it comes down to comfort. Best of luck, and let us know what you decide.

I'd definitely get manual over the tip. I have taken a short drive in the 997TT manual, and the tranny feels great and is just perfectly suited for the car. Unless there were major practicality issues involved, I couldn't see getting a Porsche with tip.

If you are looking at a 2010 model, I have not spent enough time with a double clutch transmission to make a judgement on whether it is better than the 6MT. Good luck with your decision!!!!!!!!
