So you guys think a stock GT-R from the factory can put down the numbers that Nissan published?
Ummm, yes...
Healthy scepticism is fine, but when there is a large body of evidence supporting a claim, it seems reasonable to believe that claim.
I don't understand what is so hard to fathom? Is it that Nissan made the car? If Ferrari did this, no one questions it or second guess it or triple check/test it.
I guess I'm an optimist. I applaud ANY manufacturer for remarkable accomplishments, instead of doubting them.
Porsche can't keep up with BMW M3 GTR in ALMS. BMW must be cheating, ban BMW!
Porsche can't keep up with BMW and Mazda in Rolex Series. BMW and Mazda must be cheating, add weight to their cars!
Porsche is slower than Nissan GT-R at the ring. Get a GT-R, and time it while driven by one of your company's chassis development engineers instead of the former world rally champion and multiple race winner, Walter Rohrl, who you use to do all of your own times.
That about sum it up?
I will reserve my opinion on the GTR once Sportauto publishes its time.....
Porsche should spend its resources on developing cars that don't have the engine in the rear instead of whining.
World to Porsche 911 - you are obsolescent.

The GT2 weighs roughly 200 kg less than the GT-R... Something is not right.
And the GT-R pulls off a ring time 3-5 seconds faster depending on who you ask.

Well, did you see the Top Gear run? Jeremy Clarkson pulled 1.2 lateral G! out of the GT-R and you can see it on the Accelerometer on the screen!
GT-R doesnt necessarily produce only 480 hp. It is different from car to car
and some GT-Rs produce over 500 hp. So GT2 is not a lot more powerful in reality.
Still. I read somewhere the GT2 pulls 1.1 lateral G's, the GT-R pulls 0.98 G.
The cornering G's are going to depend heavily on the tightness of the turn (tighter the turn, the higher G's the Nissan will be able to pull over the GT2), and the worse the surface (Nissan will have a comparative advantage as the surface conditions degrade). On a very fast corner that's tire limited, the GT2 should have the advantage, since it has bigger tires with respect to the weight, as well as DOT-R tires instead of DOT.
The problem with using the other tests of the GT-R is that each one was done with "press cars". I would think that the only way to verify the GT-R and for that matter 997TT and 997 GT2 claims is for someone to buy the cars off the showroom floor and hand the keys to the respective GT-R and Porsche (Walter Rohrl) test drivers.
Forgive me for being a little skeptical of the GT-R's performance given the extremely divegent test data from Car & Driver mag.
