they should have let Bangle go all ballistic with flame surfacing, new 7-series just looks too plain.

Ya way to plain... I was expecting a more WOW factor! Too conservative for my taste. Its wierd because I feel like BMW pushed the design limits with the current 7 series and now have retreated.

There are 2 big things wrong....
  1. Fake tailpipes! Look at the pics of the rear of the biege car with the dual exhaust....awful
  2. Needs an integrated browser that has the M5board.com as home
I love the new hi res LCD screen....I wonder what the HUD looks like.

I think the WOW factor is in the technology: 4WD steering, integrated hard drive, etc.

Joe, I agree with the design appearing too sublime in comparison with past evolutions.

However, your term of too conservative might be on point ,in a different context! We are not privy to the Market Research that occurs prior to a redesign or new product. We, as M consumers are a niche market, even though we obviously buy other vehicles, but our perspective is swayed and maybe too much in the minority vs. mainstream markets. Again, I don't know what percentage of the luxury vehicle market the 7 series possess vs, Mercedes and Lexus, however, the similarities to the latter may indicate some product of their research.

T-Bone! Do you know? We may need some actuary analysis here.

Boy, my post have digressed to boring!

8 gigs is too small....way too small. I would expect a 500 gig or a 1TB drive..... they are so cheap these days.

Good point. Never really looked at it from that perspective. In support of your post we are a niche market and I am no car expert just a guy busting his ***** to try and get myself into an M - hopefully they stay on the same path with that division .
