In general- I think it looks better than the current 7, but pales next to the 740iL of two generations ago. The grill is too tall, the rear is really reminiscent of the Lexus LS, esp the exhaust tips, and the chrome piece (vent maybe?) between the front fenders and doors is odd, looks way too low. Also, the wheels are terrible, and the car looks lifted. Also, that front end is going to look odd with a U.S. license plate, since the plate area is clearly not tall enough.
As an overall package, it is not that bad. The car seems to cater a lot more to rear seat passengers, with all sorts of controls and multimedia.. afterall, The Middle East and Asia are big markets now, and owners in those countries have chauffeurs a lot of the time. I see a new i-Drive interface also, anyone know if this is the one designed by Apple Computer?
Like many said, we'll have to see the car in real life. It took me a long, long, long time to like the current 7-series, and I feel it is a very uniquely styled car. If anything, this new car is pretty bland- doesn't really challenge you much. Since the E39/E38, BMW's seem hit or miss on styling.
Nevertheless, it is pretty much a given that the new 7 will drive better than the S-Class, A8, and Lexus LS. The new twin-turbo engine should give the heavy car good enough grunt to hang with or out-accelerate competing N/A cars.

I see many elements from the GT concept, and some evolutionary details from the prior model. Kinda gives me an idea of how the F10 will be designed. Overall, I'd give it a thumbs up on the direction, although it isn't nearly as avant garde as they have been in the past.
Is it me or does BMW always botch the exterior on the 7 series
this one starts looking like a Lexus 460 but not as goodlooking. I mean the Hyundai Genesis is prettier on the outside. I'm decades away from ever driving anything but a 5 series or under but please get the aesthetics right.
Active rear wheel steering, just as on the BMW 850 CSi?
"Also new, and a world premiere: Integral
Active Steering, which adds speed-sensitive rear-wheel steering to BMW’s
proven front Active Steering system. This is included in U.S. models’ Sport
Package."
"At the core of this experience are chassis engineering that sets new international
standards and all-new powertrain technology. BMW, which introduced its Active
Steering concept in 2004, now brings it to the 7 Series in a new, unique form:
Integral Active Steering, encompassing not only the original variable-ratio front
steering, but also, new rear-wheel steering. Acting as an overall system, the two
capabilities deliver a new combination of handling ease, maneuverability and
unrivaled stability in dynamic driving conditions: Integral Active Steering is
included in the optional Sport Package."
Many new features we might see on the F10 M5. Finally HUD
"Active Cruise Control
with new stop-and-go capability; Lane Departure Warning*, Active Blind Spot
Detection*, Head-up Display*, High Beam Assistant*, BMW Night Vision with
new Pedestrian Detection, Side View* and Back-up Cameras.*"
