The LS series of engines is the best period! Nothing can compare. Power + fuel economy + modability = Winner

Looks like GM is getting it together w/ the brakes department.
The brakes (rotors & calipers) look impressive and GM seem to have really gotten it right w/ the new ZR1 Vette carbon ceramic rotors.
BMW "M" division are you taking notice. Stop it w/ the 1 piston calipers.
At least make it an option.

With the 2009 CTS-V having 550HP does'nt this lead to the possibility that the BMW 2009 M5 with dual clutch will have a boost to say 550-570HP?

The front-end is way too fugly for me. Considering the motor is a de-tuned Z01 it could be easily modded to crush all luxury sedans in sheer drag statistics. But, it's the total driving experience that matters and I wonder how that compares with the M5?

But have the BMW engineers decided against building a 6+ Liter motor and supercharging it? While 'German' engineers at AMG have demonstrated they CAN supercharge large block motors & deliver astounding torque and HP.

read the car and driver ditty linked above - pretty impressive - went with recaro front seats and brembos all the way around. It also has a new traction control system that detunes torque to the offending wheel instead of applying the brakes to that wheel. The only other car does that is ferrari, and we all know that those cars handle ok. I think it is a huge step in the right direction for GM. They still have years of poor cars and image to undo, but this is another good step in the right direction. They have already taken many other good steps. The Z06 can hang with the M5, 997 TT, and the F430. Now before you start to flame, I am not saying it beats all those cars, but at least it is in the ballpark speed wise (and by the way, I am a 997TT owner, so I am not a GM apologist by any stretch). When was the last time you could say that about any GM car? That being said, I am not so sure about the exterior design. I guess I'd have to see it in person.

The Z06 can and will beat those cars you have mentioned. It doesn't just "hang" as you say...

I can't believe that no one mentioned the nice looking seats. Cloth with leather on the outside is always the way to go. That should come standard (opt leather) in all the M cars!
