I have to applaud GM for raising the HP bar - now BMW will definitely have to answer. With the rubbery manual tranny and axle hop the original CTS-V was a terror to drive. I couldn't stand it. With an auto and revised suspension, this car should be a monster. As has been said, it should be pretty easy to get another 100 hp without too much trouble.
I'll check it out when I'm at the NAIAS next week and report back...

Front end = Decent
Interior = Actually quite nice
Profile = Blah
Rear = terrible!
Add it all up and what do you get? Still an American car. Reminds me of an 8th grader trying out for the varsity team. Just not there yet...

M5: The car above all others. Cash - used to be as good as money once upon a time....
The new CTS-V looks the part and it seems as they have flared the fenders a bit, really nice touch like a proper M3. GM has stepped up to the plate and I too am glad to see that. I personally don't think that I would ever buy one, they just don't have the steering/chassis feel that BMW has refined, but overall a very nice car.
On another note: That 1982 Fleetwood Brougham Coupe is freaking awesome... I would love to blow away competent track cars or street cars in that big huge monstrosity! Pretty sweet build, and nicely done.

Last time I was in Sydney I rented a Holden and was impressed by the power and rugged build. I agree, they are not equivalent to a M5, but much better than the junk they sell in the U.S.

Aside from an Escalade, would anyone here buy a Caddy? IMO, just the name evokes 'Florida geriatric retirement community mobile'. Regardless of how this car performs (which is all hearsay for now), I would never own one. 550hp, 7-800. Doesn't matter to me. GM needs to do some serious damage control to fix the image of their marques. While this is a step in the right direction, it's still too little too late from my point of view.
