If ever there was a car that depreciates on an accelerated curve, it's a CADILACK.
Perhaps the dumbest thing said in this thread.
Have you checked the depreciation on the E60 M5 lately BTW I bought at 75% of list 10 months after it drove off the lot and today its probably worth 60% (22 months). 3 yr resids for 5 series typically quoted at 58-62% BTW (vs 60% at 22 months on the M5). Value dropping like a freaking rock.

I agree the interior looks very cluttered and unorganized. Got lots of different surfaces going on. Leather dash, grey trim, carbon trim, chrome trim (AC vents), gloss black trim. Way too many different textures. Also, don't care for the side vents or especially the plastic engine cover. Perhaps a fast car, but not my "cup of tea". Thanks for playing caddy.

'06 M5, took ED on Aug. 28th, 2006 in Munich!
Re-delivery on Oct. 20th, in Temple, TX.
Its got enough style trowelled onto it for 2 cars.
...
Agreed. It looks terribly over-styled (what's with the tacky side gills?? Looks like the stick-on versions I see in the 'hood..). Just not feeling it for the angular look in general.
But, I have a lot of respect for the concept (Thumbs up on Recaro seats and MT!). A higher output caddy was inevitable now that GM is going down the s/c path. These 'antiquated' push rod engines are really a force to contend with, not to mention the cost-effectiveness of modding.
Dollar for dollar, this car will give the beast a good run for the money.
In my opinion, the interior is plain nasty and not a patch on an optioned out M5's. Also, Evo magazine recently tested the C63 and the M3 against a Vauxhall VXR with supercharger putting out 553bhp. Guess what? It was significntly slower than the two Germans despite huge on paper power. The higher the speeds rose the bigger the gap. Will likely be the same with this thing.
I think I'll get one and play with it as daily driver for a couple of months.
Talked last night with Mallett,he expects to get easily in excess of 700hp with reasonable cost (less then $20k)out of that thing.
I'll buy one and ship it to him right away, might be fun for a while....
Honestly, I'd be surprised if a simply pulley change didn't get the hp around that level.
I like it. It will certainly be a more exclusive car than the M5 in Europe.
But a smaller fuel tank (68 vs. 72 liter) probably means even less range than the M5!
We'll see what Mercedes and BMW have to offer by the time the CTS-V will be available in Europe.

The new ZO6 will be called the ZR1 and will be supercharged. The new ZR1 and CTS-V will share the same Supercharged engine. BTW the existing ZO6 will be the last 427 Chevy will make for a while!
Reading the engine and manual trans specs, I had the same thought, they are using the ZR1 units, with a slight engine detune to allow the new vette to be king-of-the-hill. As the model progresses each year, the power will be raised.
C&D said Chevy decided to use the smaller engine block because the closer cylinder spacing in the Z06 block isn't stout enough for long-term, force-fed durability. If they adopt a stronger alloy, you might see a blown 427.
I test drove a STS-V before buying my M and was surprised how much improved it was from previous Caddys. In today's market, GM either has to sell competitive models or face extinction. Do or die.
Last year Bob Lutz was bragging about the upcoming all-wheel-drive, 700 hp, "M5 Killer", STS-V.
Interesting models to come from all the major players, if oil doesn't spike up to $150-200 per barrel.
