No opinion on the R8, but my god man, can I have just one of your P-cars?

I think Audi should have followed the Porsche route, and release the heavy hitter first, then flood the market with the smaller engined vehicles after the reputation has been established.

As long as you're not looking for a visually impressive engine bay...

Watch this auction, then decide. A friend recently picked up his r8 and absolutely loves it. The car performs but I hate the look....something between a blown up TT or a scaled down Veyron,,,ech!

Yes, you should definately buy it, waiting time is over 2 years (at least in Europe) and sellers get money back + profit of 10-20%.. Even the youtube.com-link someone provided said the R8 is better than the Carrera 4S with power-kit, which was featured in their test, so as a Porsche-person I cant see what you would dislike with this car, handling, interiour, comfort is better than 911's, heck it even took the GT3 and won the "Britain 2007 car shootout" which was shown in another thread..

The R8 is one of a few cars that seems to be a decent buy even from a economical point of view... !

hi,well I have just bought one having had the following cars the last 18 months...997s,M6,997turbo.

Firstly it is as fast as the carrera S with power kit in a straight line ,but nowhere near the m6 or 997 turbo.
Secondly ..if you want arguably the sweetest handling car on the road..then this is the car for you, despite its relative lack of straight line performance this car has won every UK magazine best drivers car and has set lap records for a road car in both EVO and Autocar in both wet and dry.It is a seriously good bit of kit.

I drove pretty much every car £80,000-£120000 and the choice came down to a gallardo and this, the residual value, running costs and everyday useability of the R8 swayed my mind .

Sure in a drag race there are faster cars, but if you value a bit of driver skill and an overall balance in a car (0-60 in 4.2,0-100 in about 10 seconds is not exactly slow is it) then the r8 is superb.

As Autocar said...if Porsche had made this car it would be considered a triumph,an m6 (I adored mine, btw so don't take this as a criticism, would not see which way an r8 was going on anything remotely twisty and a 997 turbo would only stay in touch if driven by a racing driver) you are able to fully exploit the power in the r8 more of the time.It also sounds wonderful and has the best interior and grabs so much attention .

The v10 version is going to be amazing..although sometimes more is not always better.
