RPi M6 Testing......Underated Power from BMW

So I have spent the last 3 weeks playing and testing this exhaust and have finally found ways to make some power over this stock system. I ran the car 11 times on the dyno today and from the dyno runs, it seems that BMW is really underating the power on this car. Even in shootout mode, this car pulls out 450whp+ on our dyno........the way I dyno it. A stock E60 M5 will put out around 385whp on our dyno.

I should have one of our final prototypes for the exhaust finished next week and will post the dyno test results soon.

In the works:

- RPi GT Exhaust
- RPi GT Downpipe
- RPi Intake

18% drivetrain loss, I don't see what is overrated? 555hp crank spot on.

Edit: Then again stock e60 should be putting around 410whp so dyno is underrated. Mm solid numbers then!

Our dyno reads really low, and the numbers are low especially how we dyno run the cars. 18% is a myth and the information is passed from forum to forum. Nobody knows the exact drivetrain loss unless that engine is put on an engine dyno and then put on a chassis dyno. We consistantly see 385-390 on a stock E60 and that is why I think the new M6 is putting out more power than is claimed.

The more important issue is how much power you are going to free up on that puppy; looking forward to it!!! (Optional Cat-Less Downpipe would be nice to make it a flamethrower)

Like everyone RPi, performance is ALWAYS our main focus From our testing on the stock system we already know where it can be improved so I am looking forward to this project.

We are making a FULL race exhaust from the turbo back and will work with ESS in finishing off the race exhaust with a tune. Stay tuned for more dyno tests this week or next week.

That'd be nice if BMW did under-rate the power in the new Ms but what if the new cars are just better at putting power to the wheels. New engines and drivetrain (turbo V8 and DCT vs V10 and SMG) could mean better power to the wheels i.e. less real drive train loss, than the old cars right?

The whole % is just a myth thats passed around and around. Nobody really knows the exact number for drivetrain loss unless both engine and chassis was test (same engine/car) etc. Some people dyno a higher number on certain dynos, certain dyno methods, etc. I ran this car the same way as I do all the cars and its putting out massive power. True, newer technology = more efficient drivetrains. Little hobbit, you are most wise.
