No more dual-clutch?! Because it cannot take the torque?! I thought DCT is supposed to be superior! ZF 8-speed it is then...

Is there any point any more given that other lesser models (M550i?) have more or less the same engine (albeit tuned down) and are capable of similar sub-4sec and come with X-drive? (I guess even witht the F10, the 550i had the same engine (tuned down), not sure of the 0-60mph, and we still went and got the M5s.)
Worth it just for being able to switch between X-drive / S-drive?

There's more to it than just headline numbers though. My nephew's 330i was tuned to produce a better power to weight than my E39 M5. But it still was no match for mine...

Likewise you'll get a 550 that is *on paper* as quick as an M5, if not quicker. But put them on the road and the suspension, the LSD and the overall M5 package will always prove superior. Unless you spend a lot of money of course, in which case why not buy the best one in the first place?
