I just had my aircon fixed under warranty, and I was told the condenser had split. I was told by Coopers that there were a faulty batch of them around the end of 2013, and mine's a November car.
I'm never one to believe them straight off, but it does add up I guess. A condenser splitting on a 2.5yr old car seems unlikely for any other reason. I also notice in Realoem that there are 2 deleted part numbers for the condenser before the current one.
Just wanted to put it out there and see what others' experience is....?
Blimey. Not heard anything about that myself, though I do agree with your logic.
Coopers seem to gradually be acquitting themselves better - you've not mentioned the ballache to get the work done so I'm guessing they didn't give you any hassle...
That bit was easy as they charge it back to BMW. Doesn't cost them a penny. It's the mistakes they have made, which cost them to rectify that they are 'awkward' about :wink
My June 2013 F10 M5 currently has no working air con and it's booked in for repair next week under warranty. I would like to say that I did experience a strange fizzing sound coming from the central air vents for a period of time before I noticed it failed.
That noise is a symptom of low gas levels. It's a handy warning that it's time to get your aircon checked. I've experienced it a few times over the years, on various cars.
Well today in 26degrees heat i discovered mine wasnt working either. Typical! Mines in tommorrow for something else anyway so will ask them to look at that too!
26 degrees.... sends a shiver down my spin, we are just coming to winter and will have to enjour tempraters in the 20's. It was 23 today and I had my beenie on with my hoodie under my coat, my ears and nose hurt!... Not sure I can cope! Car loves it though so, heater on and enjoy I guess
True, walking the dog back last night and there was a ~1m tiger snake coiled by the back fence. Can't have it all ways I guess. Enjoy the cold and I will enjoy the croc's, sharks, snakes and spiders
Had my 2013 M5 diagnosed today requiring a new condenser to rectify the air conditioning....however there is a back order delay from Germany and my local dealer has no date for delivery for this part. Luckily as the car will be out of warranty in a few weeks, my dealer has confirmed the work will be done for free as the diagnoses was done today. From reading this thread it looks very possible that there are a lot of 2013 F10's with faulty condenser's appearing at BMW dealers around Europe!
Has anyone reading this extended their M5's warranty recently in the UK?
