In your words, ok. Not hugely spec'd but not shabby either. No matter which way you look at it, it's an awesome car so don't be so worried about too many toys or the lack off.
Cool, thanks guys for the reassurance. Am really looking forward to getting it. I haven't even been inside a F10 before, and buying this on the phone I am coming from an X6 35d.
Its got "HiFi System Professional DSP" according to BMWArchive, I didn't know that setup was still around, and might have had that on my E60 a few years back, but can't remember... Can anyone tell if this setup is standard on the car & any good in the F10 M5?, I listen mainly to Dance Music ......I know it is not the B&A or HK systems
Dance music is also my favourite Genre & it sounds excellent though the HK. I've got a feeling that on earlier cars the Pro system is similar to the HK as it wasn't an option originally. Today HK is the 1st sound upgrade & B&O the next so if Pro was an option then i'd guess it's on a par with HK today.
As you say, that was defo the upgrade on the E60 too.
Enjoy the car & many options really are nice to haves depending on your circumstances as the base spec is better for instance that the Audi RS6.
I've got the HK system, which I think is really good. Mr. Gixxer has got the BMW professional system I believe? (I'm sure he'll correct if I'm mistaken) but he says that's good too.
There's four or five F10 M5's in the local area by the looks of it including ours. Seen a Singapore grey one outside Pickets in Pickford lane a couple of times, there's an Estoril blue '64 plate one around the corner from Townley Grammar and I see another Estoril blue M5 on the way to work once in a while along Bexleyheath Broadway.
And yes, I do indeed have the Professional system. It sounds good to me, though as I've explained elsewhere a lifetime of really loud noises (helicopters, guns, motorbikes and operational airports - sometimes all at once) means that I'm probably not the best person to judge how good an audio system actually is...
The option seat is M-Multifucntion & in my opinion is more of a comfort lounge seat as it's huge & although comfy is better suited to a 7-Series.
I prefer the regular seat & i think suits the M5 better. I personally did;t find the option seat to be any more comfortable & because it's bigger you do lose some rear legroom.
In the E60 M5 the M-Multifiunction seat had dynamic bolsters which was kind of fun, but these are not present in the F10.
If you're driven by the look of a seat then the Multifunction seat does look nicer than the standard seat, but as far as i'm concerned, that's it's only advantage & would how a car seat looks be a deciding factor for most?
OK. Thanks for confirming that. I think I personally would prob prefer the option multi function seat especially if it also looks better. Those sport seats get uncomfortable after a few hours behind the wheel for me.
I did some research regarding Brake Disc thickness and found this info
Fronts when new are 36mm and require changing at 34.4mm.
Rears when new are 24mm and require changing at 22.4mm according to BMW AUC standards.
I called the dealer and he told me that my car had
The fronts measure 34.98 mm and the rears on 23.14 mm.
Considering the thickness of new discs above, I don't think they are anywhere near replacement level yet. Would anyone that knows these things agree/ advise if I should ask for renewal or is there plenty of meat left?
How many miles has this car done Steve? (The ad has disappeared, presumably because the car is no longer for sale).
In essence, your front discs are a little over half worn, the rears a little under. So if, for argument's sake, the car has done 15k miles, in somewhere around 14k you're going to need new front discs.
Would that worry me? No, though if it's only done 5k then perhaps I'd be wondering about just how hard a life it has had. If you're still able to negotiate then you might be able to use it as a bargaining chip on the price, I guess.
OEM discs are around £450 each, Pagid replacements are about half that.
You're going to need to replace the front discs, assuming your driving stays the same, in about 11,600 miles. Not a biggy, and I agree with Mr Bloke that as they're well within limits you're unlikely to get a fresh set, but it's worth a punt I should think.
Hmm. Thanks guys, I have already been told "they are well within BMW limits" and "we only have a few hundred £ margin in the car" so get the feeling they are unlikely. lol. "BMW Scotland",...a whole another level of tightness.
They look like the love child of a sport and the M Multi function seat. I had "sports" seats in my X6, and was always bum shuffling in the seat at around the 2 hour journey point as my lower back would uncomfortable. I am sure the M5 seat is way better as will be the Multi function version in mine.. I'm 6'6" and 17 Stone. :smile
