First Major Issue

FULL ARTICLE

Quote:
BMWBLOG has just learned that deliveries of the 2013 BMW M5, M6 Coupe and M6 Convertible have been put on hold by BMW due to a potential issue with the engine oil pump in the S63TU powerplant.

The models affected are the ones produced for model year 2013.

The models equipped with the S63TU engine may suffer a sudden loss of oil pressure that could cause severe damage to the engine.

BMW owners that are already in posession of the affected models are being contacted by BMW Customer Service and instructed to refrain from driving the vehicle.
I was hoping for the Active Sound Failure

***STOP DRIVE*** 2013 M6/M6 Issued

Just got the call from my dealer. BMW has issued a stop drive order for 2013 M5 and M6 models. The GM from my dealer said they are waiting on specific VIN numbers which may or may not affect all models delivered so far. I am on standby. The issue is an oil pump defect which can dump all oil from the engine, so I am told.

Has the problem been fixed in the factory? Meaning, are they still producing with the corrected pump?

Here is what is posted from one of the other sites that my wife sent me:

BMW stops delivery on new M5 and M6 models due to oil pump issue

Does not sound good as it is a no oil pressure issue not just low oil pressure issue.

What's with BMW and their pump issues? First the 335i with its fuel pump and now the M5 with oil pump. Forced induction development teething??

Terrible news Is this the reason for the two engine failures so far?
