At a press event BMW confirmed the launch of the M6 Gran Coupe in 2013. We reported in the past that the first M6 with four-doors will come to market just a year after the launch of the M6 Coupe and Convertible models, and according to one of our sources, the M6 Gran Coupe will be “one of the best looking M cars to date.”
The official confirmation comes today from BMW Spokesman Dave Buchko via MotorTrend and confirms the launch of the M6 Gran Coupe next year, a model that will sell in the U.S. and around the world markets.
M6 Gran Coupe builds atop the recently launched 6 Series Gran Coupe and will replace the M5 and M6 at the top of the M family. The power will come from the same engine as the new M5 and M6, a high revving 560 hp M TwinPower Turbo V8 mated to a high torque 7-speed M-Double Clutch transmission (M-DCT). It remains unknown if BMW will offer a manual transmission for U.S. customers as we have seen in the F10 M5.
The car will incorporate the typical M cues, flared fenders, larger air intakes and wheels, and the signature quad exhaust tips. Since the 6 Series Gran Coupe shares its underpinnings with the 5 Series Sedan, the M6 Gran Coupe model will most likely have more mechanical similarities to the M5 than the M6 Coupe.
When it comes to market, we anticipate the base price of the M6 Gran Coupe to be around $120,000.

we saw the grand coupe at the bmw exhibit at the london olympics. the car was gorgeous inside and out...but imo way overpriced. it's about $20k higher than the a7, even factoring the engine into account. at $120k i think bmw is being way optimistic with pricing for the states. we'll see.
