M5 enroute to USA

I was notified by my dealer on June 2nd that BMW was now taking orders for the M5. I quickly optioned out my car and had my order in by the next day. I just found out that the car has now finished production and is enroute to the USA. Hopefully she will be in my garage in a few weeks! I can't wait.

I saw a silver F10 M5 in Marina Del Rey, CA last night. Very nice. The car looks very big but the front spoiler looks very hungry. It is going to eat all the older M5, M6 alive easily.

Did it have dealer plates or was it one of the pre prod units?

No dealer plate, does not look like a pre-production unit. It has no plate at front or back but it has the new car registration tag at front windshield. pretty sure it is a brand new unit.

To my knowledge, no US M5's have been delivered to date. They are not certified by the EPA and are being held at US ports. 2013 328s were just released to transport (and have been arriving at dealers) a few days ago. I would think the one you saw is a pre-prod but new vehicle registration does make it seem like a customer car.......

Or maybe you saw this thing:

PHOTOSHOOT: F10 M5 Look w/ 21" MORR MultiForged MS5.2 Wheels (John Batte Photography) - 2010 2011 BMW 5 Series Forum F10

There's already posers rolling around in the USA, like this kid has. So I highly doubt that what you saw was an actual U.S. delivered F10 M5.

All I know is that when I get my F10 M5 back from Euro Delivery I'm driving up to LA and looking for this kid, and challenging him to a race. LOL!

Pretty sure it is not a fake M5. It has the M5 badge (side and back) and the M5 wheels. I am very familiar with BMW M and can spot out a fake one within seconds. Maybe the guy gave a generous tip to the EPA officer to release his car early .

Well, looking forward to see the new M5 on the road soon so I can make a decision on whether I need to trade my car in for a new M5. The wait for the new M5 was too long so I had to go with something else earlier this year. Once the early back orders are fulfilled, I will decide on whether I need to "M5" myself or not.
