One of the advantages is that because the car is sent to the US as a 'used' car we avoid some of the fees/taxes, so the car actually becomes less expensive than if we bought it over here. The difference pretty much pays for the trip over. Then there is of course the experience of getting your car delivered in the Welt. If you want enjoy the car around Europe, BMW pays for insurance for 14 days, and when you are ready to leave, all you need to do is take it to a BMW drop-off location, and they take over from there, ship the car home to the US. You can read about the program on BMW North America Delivery. It's just a very nice vacation/experience for BMW lover. This will be my first ED, so I am very excited about it.
Where in Belgium are you? I used to live in the Ostkantonen area, close to Eupen. I miss it. Beautiful country, warm people, great beer!
Sorry for being a noob on this;
But what does it mean Eu collection/ trip?
You guys/girls come over to europe, collecting the car @ BMW welt and then?
Driving to a harbour?

Congrats and can't wait to see pictures and agree with everything you posted, but the one point: "One of the advantages is that because the car is sent to the US as a 'used' car we avoid some of the fees/taxes, so the car actually becomes less expensive than if we bought it over here". This has been repeated many times, but is not true the ED program is a customer appreciation program and is designed to have you drink the BMW kool-aid at its fullest. If BMW gets a customer to an ED they retain that customer at an unbelievable 86% rate (last I had read). Bimmerfest also explains the CSI score as the reason for the lower cost. If you have not checked out the site it has one of the best ED forums around and they have a sign-in book at the Welt as well. I'm not sure how you are dealing with waiting though I will need some type of drug when we decide to do the ED.
Oh OK. That's what my Sales Adviser had told us, but sometimes they say things that make me wonder. So often we get to know the latest news from the forums before they even hear about it. I wish I could find a Sales person who is as passionate as we in these forums. Oh well. Can't have everything I guess...
As to the wait: you know what? I am still not that excited about it, because my heart aches every time I think I'll have to get rid of my E64. That car has been my soul mate, we are like one! But then I read the posts from folks who have taken delivery of a F10 or F12, and who are coming from an E60 or E63, and they are just thrilled. So it's probably gonna be the same thing all over again. I had that feeling when I went from a 650 to the M6.
Add to that the fact that I had an apparently electronic problem with the soft top mechanism in my E64 just yesterday while cruising down the highway at 75mph. Right now it's in the dealer and I am driving a 335i. Great car don't get me wrong, but M drivers become oh-so-spoiled! What's wrong with that throttle response?!

We've been to the Welt before, but this will be the first time we do ED, and it seems to be a no-brainer. So not only we get a better price, but get to experience the BMW world!
