Hey all, just curious if anybody would know how much the Break In Service costs and what fluids are changed as well as whatever else that is done with the Break In service.
The reason that I ask is because I will have to pay out of pocket for my Break In service when I do it. This is because I am planning on doing Euro Delivery with my F10 M5 and am planning on driving over 1,200 miles to get the Break In service complete while in Europe. BMW told me that if I get it done in Europe that I will have to pay for the service out of pocket and then when I get back to the USA, I will get reimbursed by my local dealership. I'm just trying to get an idea ahead of time, how much it will cost me in US Dollars or even Euros how much the Break In service costs.
The only concern that I have is that I really really want to get the Break In service complete in ONE day vice overnight, as time will be of the essence for me during my Euro Delivery trip. I already know what dealership I am taking it to in Germany and I already have the phone number of the Service Advisor I want to call at that dealership. I just have to make the phone call and try to make an appointment and stress that I need to get the service done in one day. I guess I'm just being lazy in a way by making this post, trying to see if any members in Germany or elsewhere in Europe would know how much the Break In service costs, I'm sure that I'll be able to find out once I speak with the Service Advisor. I just hope that they speak good english as my German is very very rusty. LOL!

Actually, I paid around 400, but that included a replacement car for the day, an extra liter of oil, wheel changing service and wheel storage fee for a year. The above amount is for the running in service and includes engine oil and transmission oil.
What you pay will vary, because dealerships can change different prices for the fluids. And while the time units for work are standardized, the price for a time unit changes from dealer to dealer.
Edit: if it fits your route, you could get to my dealership and visit both the new Porsche museum and Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart, both of which are absolutely worthwile.

Hey thanks man. Good info. If you have time, you should drive down to the Welt on September 1st to meet a lot of Board members picking up their M5's. There's supposed to be significant media coverage of the event. Gustav will be there as well as representatives from Bimmerpost and Bimmerfest. It's going to be a grand day!
Good luck in getting a BMW dealership in the US to reimburse you. I'm surprised they told you that. If anything, BMW NA should reimburse you.
Not sure why you say this....it was very easy process for us. BMW NA told us the same thing and our local dealer said sure, go ahead. We got our money back within 2 weeks of returning to the US way before the car was even delivered.
It cost us around $600 USD at the time in Europe and it only took about 2 hours to complete in Stuttgart before heading to the "Ring"

From what I've seen, thing have always been a hassle.

Good to hear that this isn't the case.
Ah ok, well I am glad we had an easy time then. I guess it's always hard to get money back especially after you spend it! Luckily BMW has been good to us

Is that generally how long the running in service takes on the f10? I really can't face having to leave my car with the dealer overnight; the anticipation will be too great, when all I'll want to do is:
