Looking for some guidance here regarding new F10... went to dealer a week ago to order one and got the following story from Salesman here in SoCal.
Orders placed in June 2012, won't actually drop into factory not until mid-August, is this true or just hype to amp up the demand?
Dealer is asking full MSRP, no room for negotiation is what I am being told even on options and accessories. How long should one wait to be in a better negotiation stage to not to have to pay MSRP? is it 3-month, 6-months or longer?

1. Production starts in July, so depending on how many allocations they recieved and how many orders they already have in-house, it seems plausible. I've heard even the largest dealerships only got 6 to 8 allocations, and only the first one or two would be July production.
2. That's largely the case. All the local dealers around me are getting full MSRP until initial demand subsides. My guess is late 2012 or early 2013 you'll start seeing dealers negotiate.

proud owner of a 2009 M5
I got the equivalent of $14,500 off in the form of options - if theres stock in the pipeline not sold, you will get a good deal, like I did

Just to confirm, I you're in Europe, correct? I've heard the initial surge in Europe has passed and the normal supply/demand balance allows for reasonable negiotiations. Here in the US, we're a year behind so initial demand is still filling all available order slots, thus MSRP pricing prevails.
Look for bmwdaves thread on purchasing in SoCal. He has a contact giving discounts.
That's on European Delivery. ED is a different pool of cars separate from each dealer's allocation, so they are more willing to negotiate since its akin to an extra allocation they otherwise wouldn't have. Only hitch is you have to go to Munich to take delivery.
Indeed. For U.S. Delivery F10 M5's (i.e. ordering from the dealer and picking your new M5 up at the same dealer) you will be very hard pressed to find a deal at even U.S. MSRP. Many many dealerships across the nation are charging a markup, some small and some huge. I'm not saying it'll be impossible, but you should not pay anything over U.S. MSRP if you are doing U.S. Delivery. The initial high demand should be over within 6 to 8 months after September 1st 2012. So say about February to April 2013 timeframe would be a good time to know that you can definitely negotiate a good deal for U.S. Delivery M5's. Before then, the product still too new to the U.S. Market and demand may still be high, even though BMW is going to produce many many M5's for the U.S. Market in the first year of production (i.e. the 2013 Model Year). We're talking thousands of M5's here.
My advice is to just wait if you want to get a better deal. If you are a billionaire, then it won't even matter, give your money to those greedy dealerships then, no biggie.
"You can't make an E60 M5 like this no matter what you do. I don't mean that in a negative way. It is just a completely different type of car."

Or just buy the dealership and get the car for free.
I'm not sure why people wouldn't want to save a bunch on their car and get a trip to Europe out of the deal, but I guess some don't think the same way as I do.
