AMG no longer an option because of electric steering

Test drove the 2012 CLS AMG a couple of days ago. The electric assist steering ruined the car for me. Like driving a video game. I left the Mercedes dealership, went right over to BMW and secured an April production date for the M5. Thankfully BMW M division has its priorities right on this score. Its too bad because the last generation AMG cars were terrific with great steering. I'm coming out of the 2010 E63 and its been an excellent car. My kids would have loved to watch that CLS self park but now they will have to settle for a plain old M5. The suffering.

I have got the information from a M5 brochure which was given to me by the dealer when I test drove the F10.I think we maybe both right as I believe it is a hydraulic system but it is powered by an electric pump which saves fuel as the pump is only used when required.

where are you getting your info from? All the info i have read indicates hydraulic steering rack. No active steering and electric assist (i.e pump)
i like to see other members chime in since i think there is no electric pump whatsoever to assist the steering rack in the M5.
The F10 M5 is not going to be 100 positive review but at least slam the car with the right info.

The steering in the cls 63 is electro-mechanic, not electric.

Edit: Ok the nomenclature is really varied, but there are only 2 main systems. Electric power assisted steering and hydraulic power assisted steering. Some pages say cls has electro-hydraulic etc. I think due to not understanding the difference.

So it is electric...
