I don't think that was launch control. The person was still shifting manually (you could clearly hear the paddle clicking). He also had a rather slow shift from 1st to 2nd. I'm willing to bet if the car was just left in D it would have shifted more quickly.

I heard a rumor the M5 will be put against the M550dx in Top Gear, anyone heard the same?

That'd be interesting But all I read was that the M5 will be reviewed on Top Gear by itself.

That seems like quite a high red line for diesel?

Will be interesting to see this stacked up against the Alpina D5.

I wonder if this M550D has active sound? Pipe through some V8 or V10 noises.

True, but as i forgot to mention, when looking at the curve.. you'll see that after 4,8-4,9k rpm the power drops a lot! Same thing with torque
