The ///M5 doesn't have to Beat a GT-R to make the ///M5 a great car. It's like everyone gets upset if a faster car is compared to the Beast.

This shouldn't be the case. I certainly want to know by how much the GT-R is faster. The GT-R has whipped many higly expensive super sports cars. So why not see how the mighty beast stacks up.

Of course its not going to be faster. But it puts in a hell of a great show for what it is. That is the point.

But the Gt-R should be given its due. Its a streetable car, with four seats. Its not a two seater dedicated Sports car either.

Too many people are outraged at the comparison trying to claim just because it only has two doors, it shouldn't be compared.

Its not a Two seat, Mid mounted pure bread Sports car either, but it still hands many of those there *** also.

We all know why the beast is so great. But it SHOULD be compared to a GT-R......WHY...Because it can and not be embarrassed at all.

The Beast can hold its head up high. It did very well. It was not shamed. Sort of like when they occassionally have a Lightweight vs a Heavy weight. Its great entertainment. Occassionally there is an upset. But generally everyone knows who will win.

MJ.
Great Post! Couldn't have said it better myself!

MIB that is another way of looking at it and yes I appreciate that it's good to see the M5 getting so close but the posts have been overly protective about M5 which is unnecessary for reasons you explained.

Ditto ^^^ Bmwdave.. that is one long signature.
No surprise from video.. everyone seems to do 0-100 these days and then stop. WTH.. I do 100 on back roads. Pointless. GTR guys get to gloat and eventually someone will put another video of rolling start and something north of 100mph (im thinking 150mph) and then we call it a day when GTR stays ahead. Over 1g cornering is stupefying and hats off to GTR. The GTR should have faster track time so no surprise there.

No one in their right mind races AWD GTR from 0 unless you also have AWD. + tons of power.

Try watching this

JIDEX PRESENTS: The GTR VS M6 on Vimeo

This is an old video of me racing the then new GTR
In short the V-10 engine M6 easily catches a HTR from a dead roll by 100mph and then just walks away.
I used to run this thing on the regular to speeds well in excess of 180+mph
I am quite frankly surprisec at the length f this post on an already answered question
The v10 is so much faster at high speeds . Its way faster than the gtr and I have plenty of my own vids to prove it
For those of you thst know me and the NY crew...high speed runs are our specialty
Gistab has no neec to stage such avrace as this is old news.
Ii expect the new f10 to muvh faster up top or else its game over for the new M5 imo
V
Cheers

I think the best point of this video is to show M5 owners how ridiculous it would be to challenge a GT-R on the Road. Probably avoided a few nasty accidents that way.

The GT-R is one incredible car. It will pretty much annihilate anything costing twice as much. I would guess maybe the Porsche Turbo S or GT2 would stand a chance, but those cars are more than 2x the price. Plus I really don't think they would beat those numbers I saw. Does anyone know the tires on the GT-R? A nearly 1.5G reading means it's basically running race tires.

I think the Autocar video was accurate and entertaining. Obviously, they thought the match up would be of interest, since this is BMW's latest and greatest M5 and its most powerful production car ever produced. If you want to see how it stacks up, why not compare it to the benchmark of sports cars (<$100k); the 2012 GT-R.

I think it was flattering to the M5 that they compared it to the GT-R. The GT-R can kick some serious butt. At the end, the M5 put up a good fight, but was shutout.

The F10 M5 is a staggering performance sedan and in my opinion, probably the best "overall" performance car on the planet within a reasonable price. I would like to see Autocar do a comparison between the F10 M5 and the Panamera Turbo S. There is a huge price discrepancy, but it would be fun to see and a more relevant comparison.

Nice, I like the videos. What mods do you have JIDEX? I dont really know of too many cars that are going to keep up with with S85 and full bolt ons including headers at higher speeds. Throw on a SC Stage 1 or 2 and there really isn't going to be anything that will compete with you at higher speeds.

Forget compairing the GTR and F10 M5. Lets see some races between E60 M5 and F10 M5.

I've ran fully modded (HEADERS,EXHAUST, TUNE, INTAKE, ETC) V10 M5 and M6 and against my bolt on modded GTR and there is no competition even starting at 80-100mph maybe if I started at 130-150 it would be closer but who starts runs at those speeds?

This just comes from a guy who had a RPI STAGE 2 M5 and my fastest 60-130 time was 8.9 where my GTR can do it in 7.2... Even the Dinan stroker or the ESS supercharged car cant break the 8sec mark... As you all can read on the latest times on the board..
