Manual gearbox confirmed for US-market this summer according to Automobile Magazine

Automobile Magazine tests the new BMW M5 F10

The only transmission for us to drive today was the European-specification seven-speed twin-clutch automated manual. An engineer did confirm that a conventional six-speed manual will be available for the U.S. market when the M5 goes on sale in the summer of 2012. It's an existing transmission that's been beefed up for the M5's gargantuan torque. The twin-clutch auto tranny is exclusive to the M5 and it's a good one. Shifts are immediate, and depending on which mode you're in (there are three each for automatic and manual), they're either silky smooth or outrageously harsh. Or in between.

This puzzles the crap out of me - you can buy a manual Panamera in the rest of the world expect for North America. In the ///M world it is completely reversed..!!

I thought that gearbox was from the E39, hence why you can't disabled DSC?

that is way outdated and lasted less than a yr

2007 E60 M5s had the DSC-Locked manual transmission, but by 2008 it was done with and 2007 cars could have DSC unlocked

i doubt there's too big a difference between the E60 6-Speed and the F10 6-Speed - with the exception of the bell housing they're probably the same

“There are days you can hear it clear across the Atlantic Ocean: ‘We need a manual transmission!’ ” says Albert Biermann, vice president of engineering for BMW’s M division. “Some days the guys in Munich hear it, some days not.” Solution: scream louder.

Can someone explain to me why Joe Smith in Florida can have a manual M5 but I can't get one here in Sweden? It has to be about money, right?
But how much would it cost BMW to offer a manual transmission in the whole world instead of just the US?
