As I said earlier, it's really tough to take these Ring laps seriously as the conditions vary so much, as do tires etc. After the lap every person hangs the cars reputation on the lap time, which is absolutely silly. I understand they are supposed to use the OEM tires, but slap a set of sticky 80 rated GT2 or GT3 Porker tires on there and all of the sudden the lap drops a TON. So in essence the laps don't mean much! Let them ALL run on the same tires on the same day and then we'd get a better picture of the truth. But, give credit to the marketing departments hard work...judging from this thread, it looks like it's working.
Btw, I am more impressed that it bettered the Panamera Turbo's time...that is borderline unbelievable. Mighty impressive.
Now this is what I have been trying to say regardign the suspension, thanks BMW Blog:
"BMWs F10 M5 will feature a rear sub-frame bolted directly to the frame. There will be no rubber or even urethane bushings to offer any cushioning, and as a result this typical race car setup will allow for direct, precise road feel from the rear. This setup will also contribute to the reportedly highly neutral (and highly driftable!) handling of the new M5."BMWBLOG Tech Anaylsis: Under the Skin of BMW's New M5
We don't know that for sure. An automaker could do that easy and very few would know the difference.
Once of the biggest time savers for the BMW M5 was being on Super Sport tires, huge difference. I will say this, if the CTS-V had those same tires, it would have at least run as fast as the F10 BMW M5's time of 7:55 IMO, if not faster.
Hell, the Corvette Z06 shaved 20 seconds off its time with a combination of these tires and some suspension tweaks.

I'm usually a black car guy, but this grey with the black rims look REALLY NICE!!
i wonder if this will be at the expense of ride comfort?
+1, how could it not?, ....and its going to cause significantly more wear and tear on everything else...strange decision for a luxury driven sports saloon...
