A BMW official, Dirk Arnold, who is the head of product communications has spoken to the public and announced a few things:
1. The M3 "pickup/ute" that was spotted on the ring a few days ago was an early April Fools Joke.
2. The F10 M5 will be presented on April 1st 2011 at an M press event in Munich, Germany.
3. Also appearing at the event will be a few one-off M vehicles that never made it into production, including the M3 Pickup. I am assuming (probably a safe guess) that the one-off 25th Anniversary E60 M5 will also be present.. along with possibily other vehicles that none of us have ever seen or heard of. Should be an interesting event to say the least.

This means that the Shanghai Autoshow (hosted on April 23-28) will not debut the F10 M5. Instead a BMW organized/hosted event in Munich will be the first to display the F10 M5 on April 1st. This Munich M5 debut makes more sense than a Shanghai debut, if you all can remember back to how the F10 5er's were displayed to the public for the first time. However, I'm sure we can all still expect to see the F10 M5 at the Shanghai Autoshow. Also, this year the New York Autoshow at the Javtis Center outside the Lincoln Tunnel will overlap the Shanghai show. It would again make sense for the F10 M5 to appear in NYC as well.. BMW has enough prototypes dressed in spy camo rolling around (one currently in California).
T-9 days until we finally see the F10 M5
